Senior Python / Django Developer

Role: Senior Python/Django Developer Location: Chelsea Piers, New York City Work Arrangement: Full-time onsite Duration: 1 Year Contract to Conversion Type: Right to Hire Position Overview: We are looking for a Senior Python/Django Developer to work on scalable software applications, backend services, data-processing solutions and integrations supporting its higher-education technology environment. We works with universities and provides technology and services across online and hybrid learning, enrollment, learner support, learning platforms, data integration and related higher-education systems. The candidate should therefore have strong recent experience working on an education technology, higher-education, e-learning, LMS, student platform or similar learning platform. Key Responsibilities Design, develop and maintain high-performance Python applications.Develop backend applications and APIs using Python/Django.Build scalable data-processing solutions using Python, Pandas, NumPy and PySpark.Work with large and complex datasets.Develop integrations between enterprise applications and data platforms.Work with PostgreSQL, Oracle and other SQL-based platforms.Build and support cloud-based applications using AWS.Work with AWS services such as S3, EC2, Lambda, RDS, SQS, SNS and Redshift.Containerize applications using Docker.Work with Git, Linux and CI/CD processes.Troubleshoot application and production issues.Improve application performance, scalability and reliability.Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment and technical documentation.Work with software engineers, data professionals, architects and business stakeholders in an Agile environment. Required Skills: 8–10+ years of software development experience.Strong hands-on Python.Strong hands-on Django.Recent experience working with a higher-education, EdTech, e-learning, LMS, student or learning platform.Experience building enterprise applications and backend services.Strong experience with SQL.PostgreSQL and/or Oracle.Pandas.NumPy.PySpark.AWS.Docker.Git.Linux.CI/CD.Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms and software engineering principles.Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Critical Requirement: Migrations The candidate must have completed at least two full migrations. The resume should clearly explain: What system/application was migrated.From what platform/technology to what platform/technology.The candidate's specific role in the migration.Whether they handled development, data migration, integration, testing and deployment.Whether the migration was taken through production. Recent education-platform experience is mandatory. Need someone who have recently worked on: Higher-education technology.Online learning platforms.LMS platforms.Student platforms.E-learning systems.Continuing education platforms.Workforce education platforms.University technology platforms.Education administration systems.
