Job Description As an Optical Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for designing advanced optical systems based on customer requirements. You will work closely with System Architects and multidisciplinary engineering teams to translate specifications into feasible optical concepts. Starting with optical layouts, you will guide the development process through component selection and custom lens design, ultimately delivering validated prototypes and high performance optical solutions. Your key responsibilities include: Designing and developing advanced optical modules and systems for a wide range of high tech applications and industries;Translating customer requirements into feasible, manufacturable, and innovative optical concepts;Performing feasibility studies and optical experiments during the early stages of development projects;Creating optical layouts, running simulations, and developing custom optical designs using Zemax or similar optical design software;Validating prototypes and supporting system verification activities;Assisting with the assembly, alignment, integration, and testing of optical prototypes and systems;Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, software, and system engineers;Acting as a technical expert and point of contact for optical engineering within project teams. Requirements MSc or PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Optical Engineering, or a related field;Minimum of 7 years of experience in optical design and simulation using Zemax or comparable optical design tools;Experience within OEM, semiconductor, photonics, medical technology, or other high tech environments;Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills combined with a structured and detail oriented approach;Hands on experience with optical measurements, testing, system characterization, and optical alignment;Ability to translate theoretical concepts into practical engineering solutions;Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both colleagues and customers;Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
