Mobile App Engineer - React Native, Full Stack and AI

About Kora Kora is a Toronto-based, VC-backed startup building an intelligent assistant for busy families. We combine a mobile app with a dedicated smarthome display to help families manage schedules, chores, shopping, meals, and everyday responsibilities. Our goal is to reduce the mental load of family life. Kora understands family context, keeps track of what needs to happen, and proactively helps families coordinate and get things done. We are a small, hands-on team where you will work directly with the founders and have a meaningful influence on the product. The role We are looking for a mobile engineer who can take ownership of our React Native app across iOS and Android. You will build features, improve the user experience, investigate bugs, and manage releases through the App Store and Google Play. You should have experience maintaining a real mobile app after launch and be comfortable taking a feature from an initial idea through implementation, testing, release, and iteration. The role also includes backend and AI integration work. You will connect the mobile experience to Kora’s APIs, agents, and shared family data, contributing to backend services when needed. What you’ll do Build and maintain our React Native app for iOS and Android.Turn product ideas and designs into polished, responsive mobile experiences.Own the mobile release process, including builds, signing, test distribution, store submissions, review feedback, and production updates.Diagnose and resolve crashes, device-specific bugs, performance issues, and production problems.Improve app startup time, navigation, state management, and reliability.Build experiences involving calendars, tasks, chat, voice, notifications, and shared family information.Integrate backend APIs and AI-powered features, handling loading states, streaming responses, errors, and recovery clearly.Contribute to backend endpoints, data models, and integrations when a feature requires it.Maintain practical testing, crash reporting, analytics, and release checks.Work directly with the founders to prioritize improvements and respond to user feedback.What we’re looking for At least one year of professional mobile development experience, ideally two or more, with React Native experience strongly preferred.Experience shipping and maintaining at least one mobile app on the App Store or Google Play.Direct involvement in app publishing, including preparing builds, submitting releases, and resolving release or review issues.Strong JavaScript or TypeScript skills and a solid understanding of React.Experience with mobile navigation, state management, authentication, API integration, and local storage.Ability to investigate bugs across application code, native platform behavior, and backend responses.Comfort working with Git, reviewing code, and maintaining an existing codebase.Willingness to contribute across the stack, including backend development in Python or another language.Regular use of AI development tools, with the ability to understand, review, test, and debug the code they produce.Strong ownership and communication: you can clarify an incomplete requirement, make sensible decisions, and follow through.Helpful experience Shipping and maintaining React Native apps on both iOS and Android.Expo, native modules, Swift, Kotlin, or native build tooling.Push notifications, calendar integrations, subscriptions, or in-app purchases.Firebase, PostgreSQL, Python APIs, or Google Cloud.LLM APIs, conversational interfaces, streaming, or voice interactions.Mobile CI/CD, automated testing, and crash monitoring.Consumer products or small startup teams.You do not need every technology listed above.
