What are we looking?
We are looking for a strategic and technology-driven Senior Director – E-Commerce Engineering to lead the architecture, development, and delivery of scalable e-commerce platforms and digital commerce solutions.
This role will drive engineering strategy, platform modernization, customer experience, and operational excellence while leading high-performing engineering teams.
What will you do?
Key Responsibilities
Define and execute the e-commerce engineering strategy and technology roadmap aligned with business and customer objectives.Lead architecture and development of scalable B2C/B2B e-commerce platforms, web applications, APIs, and microservices.Drive modernization initiatives across commerce platforms, order management, payments, search, personalization, product catalogue, pricing, and customer experience.Partner with Product, Digital, Marketing, UX, Data, and Business teams to deliver seamless omnichannel experiences.Establish engineering standards for cloud adoption, DevOps, CI/CD, security, scalability, performance, and reliability.Lead integration with ERP, CRM, PIM, OMS, payment gateways, fulfilment, logistics, and third-party platforms.Drive adoption of AI/ML, personalization, analytics, and automation to enhance e-commerce experiences and operational efficiency.Build, mentor, and lead distributed engineering teams while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.Manage technology vendors, engineering budgets, delivery timelines, and strategic technology partnerships.
Required Qualifications & Skills
12+ years of experience in software engineering and technology leadership, with significant experience leading large engineering organizations.Strong experience building and scaling enterprise e-commerce and digital commerce platforms.Expertise in modern technologies including Java/.NET/Node.js, React/Angular, APIs, microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).Strong understanding of e-commerce architecture, distributed systems, databases, integration patterns, and high-volume transaction processing.Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, Kubernetes, observability, security, and cloud-native engineering.Strong understanding of performance, scalability, availability, and reliability engineering.Experience with platforms such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Adobe Commerce/Magento, Shopify, SAP Commerce, or similar is preferred.Excellent executive communication, stakeholder management, strategic planning, and people leadership skills.Experience working in Agile product engineering environments and managing multiple large-scale initiatives.
