Principal Software Engineer

About the Opportunity: The Principal Software Engineer will provide technical leadership for the next generation of the document management platform. This role is responsible for shaping the architecture across web, mobile, desktop, Microsoft 365 integrations, and AI-powered features, ensuring coherence and high standards of reliability, security, and performance. The position involves hands-on engineering and cross-team collaboration to simplify complex systems and accelerate platform evolution. 3. Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership and establish architectural direction across multiple teams and products.Lead architectural decisions spanning web, mobile, backend services, desktop applications, and AI experiences.Define shared technical patterns, data models, permission models, and integration methods.Guide complex engineering initiatives from ideation through implementation and production.Assess architectural trade-offs related to scalability, security, performance, usability, and maintainability.Simplify and build technical foundations to enable faster team progress.Develop cloud-native applications, microservices, integrations, and enterprise-scale customer experiences.Architect next-generation web and mobile applications and supporting backend services.Integrate AI capabilities such as assistants, summarization, extraction, and intelligent search.Lead technical design for Microsoft 365 integrations across Office applications.Design secure, concurrent, distributed workflows with matter-level permissions.Define strategies for evolving and migrating mature applications without disrupting customer workflows.Ensure technical coherence across extended applications, desktop clients, sync, import tools, browser extensions, mobile apps, and Microsoft 365 integrations.Collaborate with platform and AI engineering teams to establish scalable shared service integrations.Set and improve performance and reliability standards for customer-facing applications.Lead cross-team technical initiatives and build alignment among Engineering, Product, Design, Platform, and AI teams. 4. Requirements: Extensive experience in software engineering and technical leadership.Strong background in designing and building cloud-native applications and microservices.Expertise in web, mobile, backend services, desktop applications, and Microsoft 365 integrations.Proven ability to lead architectural decisions and complex engineering projects.Knowledge of security, scalability, performance, and usability considerations in software design.Experience with AI integrations and intelligent document management systems.Ability to simplify complex systems and establish scalable technical patterns.Effective cross-team collaboration and leadership skills. 5.
