Description

This is a hands-on infrastructure role in a four-person team supporting research compute and large-scale storage environments. The team runs infrastructure for the Nectar research cloud, including virtual machines and NFS storage for researchers, as well as standalone compute environments used by multiple teams. It also supports the Waratah supercomputer and infrastructure behind NSW air-quality forecasting. The environment includes approximately 35 servers, GPU servers, enterprise Linux and a large mass-storage estate. The right engineer will manage physical hardware, keep the server fleet consistent through Ansible playbooks, and help ensure systems can be rebuilt reliably. The work is varied, and team members cover for one another during leave. The team has a strong documentation culture.
