About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Quantum Software Engineer (m/f/d) to join our interdisciplinary HPC and quantum computing team at GWDG.
This full-time position (39 hours per week) is funded through the GWDG QC project, with a contract valid until October 2029.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and expanding GWDG’s quantum computing ecosystem, focusing on anomaly detection for industrial applications.
Your primary responsibility will be to implement a containerized FullStaQD instance, serving as a reference platform for various project landscapes.
This role demands expertise in software architecture, security standards, and integration of heterogeneous APIs, with a particular emphasis on HPC scheduler systems like SLURM.
You will collaborate closely with research and industry partners to build scalable, secure, and efficient quantum computing solutions, contributing to the advancement of quantum anomaly detection tools.

Qualifications
PhD and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, or a related fieldProven industry or research experience in software developmentDemonstrable coding skills in complex software systems (without AI assistance)Experience in software architecture and quality management, especially for containerized systemsKnowledge of handling heterogeneous APIs and integrating HPC scheduler systems such as SLURMUnderstanding of quantum computing job characteristics and resource requirementsFamiliarity with compiler/transpiler pipelinesKnowledge of encryption, data protection standards, and GDPR/DSGVO complianceExcellent teamwork and communication skillsFluent in English (spoken and written)
