Senior DevOps Engineer Location: Sydney – North Ryde Working Model: Hybrid – 3 days in the office Employment: Permanent The Opportunity We are working with an established Australian technology company that is making a significant investment into its DevOps and infrastructure capability. The business operates a substantial privately managed infrastructure environment and is currently going through a major modernisation program, with a strong focus on Kubernetes, containerisation and automation. This role will sit between traditional infrastructure and modern Platform/DevOps engineering. You’ll work across Linux and bare-metal infrastructure while helping the business continue its move towards a more containerised, automated operating model. There is also significant investment going into AI, with the DevOps team responsible for building and operating the underlying infrastructure and platform capabilities that will allow AI to be introduced across the company’s product environment. What You’ll Be Working On Building, administering and improving Kubernetes environmentsSupporting the continued adoption of containerised infrastructureManaging and improving Linux-based private cloud and bare-metal environmentsAutomating infrastructure, deployments and operational processes using Python and BashBuilding and improving CI/CD pipelines across GitLab, GitHub and BitbucketUsing Ansible and/or Puppet for configuration management and infrastructure automationWorking across servers, networking, storage and virtualisationSupporting complex, multi-component application and platform deploymentsHelping reduce reliance on traditional VMware-based infrastructureImproving deployment processes with the goal of moving from lengthy manual deployments towards highly automated deliverySupporting the infrastructure and platform capabilities required for future AI workloads and applicationsTaking ownership of technical challenges and contributing to the continued development of the wider DevOps functionWhat We’re Looking For The ideal candidate will come from a Senior DevOps, Platform Engineering, Linux Infrastructure, Infrastructure Automation or SRE background. You’ll ideally bring: Strong hands-on Kubernetes experience within production environmentsExperience administering Kubernetes itself, rather than solely deploying applications into managed clustersRancher experience would be highly regardedStrong Linux administration experienceExposure to private cloud, bare-metal or internally managed infrastructureStrong scripting and automation experience with Python and/or BashCI/CD experience, ideally across GitLab, GitHub or BitbucketConfiguration management experience with Ansible and/or PuppetUnderstanding of infrastructure across servers, networking, storage and virtualisationExperience supporting complex production environmentsAbility to troubleshoot across both infrastructure and application/platform layersA strong automation mindset and desire to remove repetitive manual processes Who Will Do Well Here: The team values technical aptitude, attitude and ownership over someone simply ticking every technology box.
