AI Enablement Engineer – Claude Code | .NET & Python 📍 Australia | Melbourne 💡 AI Enablement | Developer Productivity | Software Engineering Maltem Australia is looking for a hands-on AI Enablement Engineer to work with a development team and accelerate the adoption of AI-assisted software engineering. This role is focused on practical AI enablement, training, and coaching. You will work directly with developers to introduce and embed Claude Code into their day-to-day development workflows, helping them use AI effectively across coding, testing, debugging, refactoring, documentation, and other areas of the software development lifecycle. You are a software engineer first. You have experience building and supporting production-grade applications, understand modern engineering practices, and are comfortable working directly in codebases. You also have strong practical experience with AI-assisted development and can coach other engineers through real-world adoption. The ideal person will be someone who can show developers how to use Claude Code effectively in a real engineering environment, rather than someone whose experience is primarily theoretical or focused on AI/ML research. This role will help our client move from experimentation with AI developer tools to practical, repeatable adoption across the engineering team. You will play an important role in: Enabling developers to use Claude Code effectively in their daily workflows Improving developer productivity through AI-assisted engineering Providing hands-on training and coaching Establishing practical patterns and ways of working for AI-assisted development Identifying opportunities to incorporate AI across the software development lifecycle Helping developers adopt AI while maintaining engineering, security, quality, and production standards Your Mission As an AI Enablement Engineer, you will work directly with software developers to help them understand and adopt AI-assisted development practices. You will combine strong software engineering experience with practical expertise in AI developer tooling and the ability to coach and enable other engineers. This is not a traditional classroom training role. You will work alongside developers in their existing environments and codebases, demonstrating practical use cases and helping teams incorporate AI into their everyday engineering practices. A key part of the role will be helping developers understand how to use Claude Code effectively across real software engineering workflows — from understanding an unfamiliar codebase through to implementing changes, generating tests, debugging issues, refactoring code, and preparing changes for production. Working closely with engineering leadership and development teams, you will help identify opportunities, develop practical workflows, run enablement sessions, and establish repeatable practices that can be adopted across the wider engineering organisation. Key Responsibilities Work directly with software developers to enable AI-assisted software development Lead hands-on training, workshops, demonstrations, and coaching sessions focused on Claude Code Demonstrate practical AI-assisted workflows across: Codebase exploration and understanding, Code generation and implementation, Refactoring and modernisation , Unit and integration testing, Debugging and troubleshooting, Code reviews, Documentation, Test generation, Developer productivity and automation Work directly within existing development environments and codebases to demonstrate real-world use cases Help developers develop effective patterns for working with AI coding agents Create reusable prompts, workflows, examples, guidelines, and best practices Help developers improve how they provide context and instructions to AI coding tools Identify opportunities to incorporate AI into existing development and CI/CD workflows Build prototypes and proof-of-concepts demonstrating AI-enabled engineering practices Coach developers on effective use of AI while maintaining appropriate engineering standards and human review Share learnings and successful practices across the wider engineering team Work with engineering leadership to identify further AI adoption and enablement opportunities Help measure adoption and identify areas where AI-assisted development can improve engineering productivity and quality Expected Impact Success in this role will include: Developers becoming confident and effective users of Claude Code Increased adoption of AI-assisted development capability and confidence in working with AI coding tools A sustainable approach to AI enablement that can be extended across additional engineering teams What We’re Looking For Essential Strong commercial experience as a Software Engineer / Senior Software Engineer Demonstrated hands-on experience using Claude Code for software development Experience using Claude Code within real development projects or production environments Strong development experience with .NET / C# Working experience with Python Experience building, testing, deploying, and supporting production-grade applications Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices and the full SDLC Experience with Git, CI/CD, automated testing, and modern development workflows Ability to work directly with developers in their existing development environments and codebases Experience providing technical coaching, mentoring, training, or developer enablement Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to experienced developers Desirable Experience using other AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar tools Strong understanding of LLMs, prompt engineering, context management, and AI coding agents Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) Experience integrating AI capabilities into software applications Experience working with Azure or AWS Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud-native development environments Experience with CI/CD and modern DevOps practices Experience establishing AI development standards, governance, or
