Java Backend Engineer

We are hiring 3 Java Backend Engineers – Junior, Medior and Senior – for a large-scale FinTech technology program in Amsterdam focused on building highly scalable, customer-facing products. You will develop Java and Spring Boot backend services, design APIs and microservices, and work on distributed systems where performance, reliability and scalability are critical. Amsterdam, The Netherlands – Hybrid, 2–3 days onsite per week – Relocation required if not based in the Amsterdam region Tasks and Responsibilities Design, develop and maintain Java-based backend services;Build scalable APIs and microservices using modern software engineering practices;Develop high-quality, maintainable and well-tested code;Work on distributed systems and cloud-native applications;Support production systems and contribute to platform reliability;Participate in system design and technical discussions;Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams;Improve application performance, scalability and operational reliability. Profile Bachelor's or Master's degree;Junior: 2+ years of Java development experience;Medior: 5+ years of Java development experience;Senior: 10+ years of Java development experience;Experience with Spring Boot;Experience designing and developing microservices and APIs;Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases;Good understanding of distributed systems and scalable backend architectures;Experience developing customer-facing products and strong software engineering fundamentals;Ability to demonstrate measurable project outcomes and the business or technical value of your work.Experience with Kafka, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker or GitLab CI/CD would be an advantage. Experience supporting applications with 10,000+ users or working within FinTech, payments, banking or another regulated industry would also be beneficial.
