About The Role We are seeking experienced Senior and Staff Backend Engineers to join our core engineering team at GrabJobs. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in building and scaling our platform and developer infrastructure, which are vital to our product’s success. As a product-led company serving a developer community, our engineers have a direct influence on the product roadmap, specifications, and execution. You will own end-to-end development of core systems, from ideation and design to implementation, working closely with both internal teams and developer customers to shape the future of our platform. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-impact projects, contribute to open-source initiatives, and influence the direction of a fast-paced, innovative company dedicated to redefining recruitment technology. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in backend engineering for senior roles, and 10+ years for staff-level positions. You should possess a strong track record of designing and scaling high-traffic, performance-critical systems. Deep knowledge of developer infrastructure, APIs, databases, and backend stacks is essential. You should be proficient with Node.js and modern backend technologies, with a passion for building developer tools and enhancing developer experience (DX). Excellent communication skills, proactive attitude, and reliability are key, especially within a remote-first environment. We value candidates with a product mindset, empathetic approach to developers, and a pragmatic, positive attitude. The ability to operate autonomously, take ownership, and navigate ambiguity is crucial. Candidates should be based in North America, LATAM, or Europe. Responsibilities Design, develop, and scale backend systems, APIs, and services that form the backbone of our platform.Create world-class developer interfaces, including APIs, SDKs, UIs, and runtime environments that enhance developer experience.Collaborate directly with customers to understand integration challenges and deliver tailored solutions.Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability across all backend services.Shape the product roadmap and company strategy through high ownership of technical decisions.Engage with the open-source community by maintaining and contributing to our repositories.Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
