Senior Data Platform Engineer

Your Role As a Senior Data Platform Engineer at Creditstar, you will take ownership of the data platform behind our analytics, reporting, and data science across our European markets. Your focus will be to raise it to the next level through solid engineering, clear governance, and standards that scale as the company grows. Rather than working on isolated deliverables, you will shape the platform, tooling, and practices that let our BI, Analytics, and Data Science teams build on data they can trust. You will work closely with data scientists, analysts, risk, and product teams, and partner with DevOps on the underlying infrastructure. You will have a high degree of autonomy, a wide range of technical problems to solve, and the freedom to make decisions in an environment that expects engineers to lead. What You Will Own Own and continuously improve Creditstar's data platform on AWS and Snowflake, keeping it reliable, performant, and scalableStrengthen platform performance, security, secrets management, and observability across the data stackOwn platform cost efficiency: track and optimize Snowflake and AWS spend, and lead FinOps practices within the data teamAdvance data governance through clear data ownership, access and PII controls, data lineage, and audit readiness, in line with GDPR and internal policiesDefine and uphold engineering standards for testing, versioning, code reviews, CI/CD, and Git-based workflows across the data teamOwn the integration layer connecting internal and third-party data sourcesLead the response to data platform incidents, seeing issues through to a durable fixWork with the DevOps team on the underlying infrastructure: setting requirements, reviewing their solutions, and making sure platform needs are metSupport BI Engineers, Analysts, and Data Scientists with a well-governed, well-documented, self-serve platform Requirements Experience & Expertise Strong hands-on experience running and improving a cloud data platform on AWS and SnowflakeA solid grasp of cloud infrastructure, security, and cost management, enough to set requirements and assess solutions alongside DevOpsPractical experience with data governance, access control, and PII managementExperience in a regulated setting such as finance, banking, or AML/KYC Collaboration & Mindset Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with technical and business stakeholdersA dependable, ownership-driven approach: you stay with a problem until it is resolved and does not come backStructured working style with the confidence to set standards where none exist yetEntrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-scaling environmentFluent in spoken and written English Nice to have: A track record with cloud cost optimization and FinOps practicesFamiliarity with modern table formats (Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake)Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field Our Tech Stack: Cloud: AWS (EC2, EMR, MWAA, RDS, etc.)Data Warehouse: SnowflakeWorkflow & Orchestration: Airflow, DBTBig Data & Processing: Spark, DockerStreaming: Kafka Benefits Ownership of a data platform serving millions of customers across EuropeDirect influence on data-driven products that reach millions of peopleFlexible working arrangements and modern office facilitiesProfessional development, training, and conference opportunitiesA talented international team with a collaborative cultureCompany events, team-building activities, and a fun work cultureA dynamic, challenging, and rewarding role in a rapidly expanding international company Gross salary range for this position is €6000-€7000 per month.
