Staff Software Engineer

Junip is looking for a Staff Software Engineer who wants to help shoppers make the right purchasing decisions when shopping online. The Junip product We operate a review platform at significant scale (10,000+ customers / merchants, tens of millions of shoppers / reviews). We also have new agentic product that is growing quickly. They both work together to help shoppers make purchasing decisions when buying from ecommerce stores. What you'll do Design and implement new features end to end, primarily using Rails and ReactSolve performance and infrastructure challenges to scale while improving speed & reliabilityActively collaborate with CX and other team members to fold learnings back into the product experienceMaintain integrations with Shopify and other platform partners (TikTok Shop, Meta, Google Shopping etc) Some of the technology you'll work with Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, RubyLLM, Vector DB(s), Redis, Sidekiq, AWS etc Need to have Experience building web applications at significant scale, ideally in Ruby on Rails and/or adjacent technologiesDeep understanding of the software development lifecycle, crafting maintainable codeComfort & eagerness to ship to production dailyConfidence in crafting public APIs, leveraging webhooks and building scalable services (finding solutions to N+1 query problems, maintaining endpoint speed and reliability)Excellent written communication, able to clearly articulate complex ideas / plansExperience using AI tools to accelerate both your pace & quality of software development Nice to have Experience building for ecommerce merchantsExperience building agentic tools Important things to know Competitive benefits, PTO & compensationWe’re a small teamProfitable + growingWe have an office in KitchenerDay to day is typically flexible/remoteNeed to be EST, Canada, preference for candidates within 2 hours of Kitchener-Waterloo (London, Toronto, Hamilton etc)
