About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Senior PHP Engineer to join a dynamic and entrepreneurial technology company based in Fareham. Initially, the role requires office-based work for the first three months, after which a hybrid working model will be adopted. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with proven experience in PHP development and related technologies. Essential qualifications include a minimum of PHP 5+ proficiency, solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), and experience working with MySQL databases. Familiarity with version control systems such as Git is required. Candidates should have a good grasp of web technologies including XHTML, CSS, and jQuery. Experience working within Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum, and practicing Test-Driven Development (TDD) is highly desirable. Beneficial skills include knowledge of containerization and cloud platforms such as Kubernetes, AWS, or Google Cloud, along with experience in Docker, load balancing, and code review processes. A proactive attitude towards learning and adapting to new technologies is essential. Responsibilities In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable web applications and backend systems in a fast-paced environment. Your duties will include collaborating with cross-functional teams to plan and develop new features, optimizing existing systems for performance and security, and ensuring code quality through rigorous testing and reviews. You will contribute to the development of Greenfield projects, leveraging the latest PHP and web technologies to deliver innovative solutions. Additionally, you will assist with data migration, system support, and maintenance of security and storage services. Embracing Agile practices, you will participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure continuous improvement and timely delivery of projects. Your role will also involve mentoring junior developers and promoting best coding practices within the team.
