Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Summary A senior QA engineer in this role should own quality for new healthcare client integrations. They should be able to validate EDI claim flows end to end, carry testing for an activation from requirement review through client UAT and go-live, and keep existing live clients protected from regression as new work ships. They should combine deep manual and analytical testing in healthcare data and have the ability to design and maintain automated regression coverage. They need to work closely with engineering, platform, and client-facing teams, and help guide QA execution across internal and partner resources. Job Description As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, you will set and run the test strategy for new client activations, validate EDI claim flows end to end, and safeguard platform quality across internal and vendor teams. You will perform root cause analysis on defects, trace malformed outputs, verify data across databases and output files, and support client UAT while ensuring regression coverage for live clients. Job Specification Conduct independent data verification using SQL and MongoDB queries across file output, UI, and backend tablesReview Scala and Java code changes and pull request diffs to determine test scope and impacted areasSet and run the test strategy for new client activations, from requirement review through UAT and go-liveValidate EDI transactions and acknowledgement chains at segment level; 837I/837P; including adjustments, voids, and claim-level reason and remark codesDesign, build, and maintain automated regression suites for data flows, contributing test code that passes peer review and merges to the main branchPerform root cause analysis on defects, tracing malformed output back to the responsible transformation, mapping, configuration, or environmentCreate and maintain reusable test data, including hand-constructed EDI files targeting specific edge casesLog defects with sufficient precision (input file, flow version, environment, expected vs. actual) to enable first-pass resolutionMaintain test case repositories and traceability from requirement through test case to defectEstimate QA effort, allocate and review work across internal and vendor QA teams, and report progress and blockersSupport client UAT, including reproduction, triage, and communication of reported issuesReview requirements for testability and raise gaps before development beginsLeverage AI tools for automating QA workflow Required Skills and Expertise Experience Minimum 4 years in software quality assurance, with at least 2 years in healthcare EDI, claims processing, or payer-side data integrationDemonstrated ownership of QA for client implementations or activations, as distinct from product-only QADomain Knowledge General US healthcare domain knowledge such as HIPAA, PHI/PII, EDI X12 filesPractical command of X12 transaction sets, loop hierarchy (2000A / 2300 / 2400), segment placement, and qualifiersshould be able to read a raw X12 837 file and identify structural errors without tooling, and should be familiar with 837I/837P, 999, 278N Authorization, 277CA, 834 and 835.Claims lifecycle knowledge including adjustments, voids, case linkage, misdirected claims, pricing and repricing, and reason and remark codesTesting Capability Test planning and test case design covering positive, negative, boundary, and regression scenariosExploratory testing to identify defects outside documented casesProficiency with test case management tools such as TestRail, Zephyr, or XrayDefect lifecycle management in Jira or equivalentTechnical Skills Proficiency in at least one test automation language and framework, with sound judgement on automation scopeAutomation of data flow validation; file-in/file-out comparison, schema and segment assertionsSFTP/FTP protocol basic knowledge and working knowledge of SFTP and encryption/decryption in file exchangeETL workflow knowledgeWorking knowledge of Git-based workflows (GitHub / GitLab) including branching, merge requests, and code reviewCI/CD pipeline literacy sufficient to distinguish test failures from pipeline or environment failuresStrong SQL Postgres; working knowledge of MongoDB query syntaxAPI testing using REST clients such as PostmanAbility to read Scala/Java code, clarity on OOP concepts to assess change impactPlatform and Operations Experience with data flow orchestration tooling, preferably Apache NiFi, including flow versioning and processor behaviourUnderstanding of configuration-driven integration models and how client-specific configuration affects expected outputFamiliarity with scheduling constructs such as cron and Quartz expressionsExperience with environment promotion across dev, test, staging, UAT, and productionAnalysis and Communication Strong log analysis, queue inspection, and error triage skillsAbility to classify faults as data, configuration, code, or environment issues prior to escalationClear written communication, adaptable between internal engineering detail and client-facing updatesExperience coordinating work across distributed and vendor teamsNice to Have: Experience with authorization (278) and eligibility (270/271) transaction setsEnough Scala and Java reading ability to assess the impact of a code changePostgreSQL experience in a data verification contextExperience mentoring or leading junior QA engineersPrior work in a healthcare payer, TPA, or clearinghouse environmentApache NiFi or comparable data flow orchestration toolingTest case management tooling such as TestRail, Zephyr, or XraySFTP and PGP encryption in file exchangeCron and Quartz schedulingBackground in a payer, TPA, or clearinghouse environment Work Shift: Non-Daylight Savings Time (Nepal Time) Monday - Friday: 1:30 PM – 10:30 PMDaylight Savings Time (Nepal Time) Monday - Friday: 2:30 PM – 11:30 PM
