They work within an area of domain expertise, contribute to breaking down larger problems into smaller deliverable tasks, and develop their technical capability through hands-on project experience. They actively share what they learn with their team and contribute to a culture of continuous learning. In Cloud, an Engineer implements automation and cloud platform components for a given solution. They contribute to the enablement of developers and delivery teams through a DevOps mindset, applying engineering practices to improve consistency, reliability, and delivery velocity. WHAT WILL YOU DO Engineer contributes to the implementation of cloud platform, automation, and DevOps solutions. Your role is to deliver reliable technical outcomes while developing your engineering capability and understanding of cloud platforms and modern delivery practices. Specifically, you will: • Apply DevOps culture, tooling, delivery methods, and engineering practices within Slalom and our clients. • Implement technical solutions based on established architecture and engineering patterns. • Contribute to estimating work efforts and story pointing for assigned project tasks. • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation to support application and platform delivery. • Work with senior engineers and architects to implement cloud infrastructure and platform components. • Identify and raise technical risks, issues, dependencies, and blockers. • Participate in technical discussions, design sessions, code reviews, and Agile ceremonies. • Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the team. • Build hands-on experience with emerging cloud, automation, and AI technologies. WHAT YOU WILL BRING • Experience in cloud engineering, or DevOps, with exposure to production environments using AWS. • Experience developing or supporting CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar. • Understanding of core cloud concepts and services, particularly AWS. • Understanding of cloud competencies, including: o Landing Zone and cloud platform fundamentals o Common cloud and hybrid network patterns • AWS certifications (Cloud Practitioner, Developer Associate, Solutions Architect Associate, or similar) are highly regarded. • Understanding of core AWS services, such as EC2, Lambda, S3, IAM, API Gateway, RDS, and CloudWatch. • Interest in learning how cloud platforms enable scalable, secure, and reliable applications. o Application migration and modernisation principles • Understanding of cloud security-focused engineering practices, including: o Identity and access management o Fundamental cloud security principles • Experience with configuration management and infrastructure as code, using tools such as: Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK. • Ability to write and maintain automation scripts using languages such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar. • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and work collaboratively to identify and resolve problems. • Collaborate across cross-functional and technical teams to deliver Agile-based projects. • Demonstrate a growth mindset and eagerness to learn new technologies quickly. • Demonstrate developing competency in the use and understanding of AI engineering practices. • Apply technical knowledge to solve practical business problems for customers. • Communicate effectively with team members and client stakeholders. • Translate customer requirements into practical technical solutions with guidance from senior team members.
