Senior Drupal Developer

Americaneagle.com is seeking an experienced Drupal Developer to build, enhance, and maintain scalable Drupal applications. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Drupal 10/11, PHP, custom module and theme development, integrations, and modern development practices, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and cross-functional teams. Responsibilities • Develop and maintain scalable applications using Drupal 10/11, PHP 8+, Symfony, Composer, and Drush. • Build custom Drupal modules and themes using Drupal APIs, Twig, object-oriented PHP, and SOLID design principles. • Develop solutions involving payments, ERPs, third-party services, and REST/JSON integrations. • Plan and execute content and data migrations from Drupal and other platforms using Drupal’s migration framework. • Optimize application performance, database queries, caching, and the handling of large data sets. • Ensure code meets Drupal/PHP standards, accessibility, security, and project requirements. • Support deployments and collaborate with Web Operations and DevOps across environments. • Work with cloud and managed Drupal hosting platforms, including Acquia and similar providers. • Collaborate directly with clients and project teams to translate requirements into solutions. • Estimate development work, identify risks, and support solution planning. • Mentor junior developers and promote consistent development practices. • Use AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Copilot, ChatGPT, and Claude responsibly. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. • 5+ years of Drupal development experience, including Drupal 10/11. • Advanced PHP 8+ and object-oriented programming, and Symfony experience. • Strong experience developing custom Drupal modules and themes using Twig. • Proficiency with Composer, Drush, Git, branching and code-reviews. • Experience with Drupal configuration, Views, permissions, caching, and deployments. • Experience with Layout Builder, Drupal Canvas, Paragraphs, and Layout Paragraphs. • Knowledge of Drupal contributed modules/themes and Drupal.org. • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and JSON integrations. • Experience with Drupal migrations, including content, configuration, and complex data transformations. • Familiarity with CI/CD and Docker tools such as DDEV and Lando. • Experience writing automated tests with tools such as PHPUnit, Behat, Cypress, or Playwright. • Proficiency with debugging and performance-analysis tools, including Xdebug and APM platforms. • Working knowledge of Linux, web-servers, databases, caching, and cloud environments. • Knowledge of security, accessibility, performance optimization, and scalable application design. • Experience using AI development tools responsibly and reviewing generated output. • Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and mentoring skills. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Acquia or other enterprise Drupal hosting platforms. • Experience with high-traffic, content-rich, or transactional websites. • Experience integrating Drupal with ERP, CRM, payment, search, identity-management, or other enterprise systems. • Familiarity with Laravel or additional PHP frameworks. • Contributions to Drupal.org projects or active participation in the Drupal community. The US-based salary range for this full-time position is $90,000-$110,000 per year. Within this range, individual pay is determined by job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
