DevOps Engineer

TDI is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support a brand-new Agile development team at the forefront of federal IT modernization, delivering real digital transformation where it matters most. This is a rare ground-floor opportunity to architect, build, and integrate cutting-edge infrastructure solutions in support of some of our nation's most sensitive and critical missions. This is a fully onsite opportunity requiring a daily commute to the Washington, DC area. An active TS/SCI security clearance is required. RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop automated CI/CD build/deployment pipelines using Jenkins (CloudBees), Artifactory, Kubernetes (OpenShift), Docker, Ansible and BitbucketAssist with the deployment, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, updates/upgrades of Kafka and Elastic clusters and environmentsConfigure applications to integrate network data into an Elastic (ELK) stack hosted in an AWS cloud environmentConfigure applications in accordance to meet DoD security standards, including DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)Develop, and maintain centralized dashboards and observability solutions to monitor application health, performance, availability, security posture, infrastructure utilization, and cloud spend across environmentsImplement proactive monitoring, alerting, and automation using metrics, logs, traces to improve incident detection, operational visibility, root cause analysis, and system reliabilityImplement cloud and infrastructure cost optimizations through resource utilization analysis, rightsizing, idle resource identification, storage and compute optimization, and FinOps best practicesManage enterprise certificate lifecycle operations, including certificate provisioning, renewal, rotation, expiration monitoring, and automation to ensure secure and uninterrupted service deliveryCollaborate with DevOps, Security, Cloud, and Application Engineering teams to integrate security controls, compliance monitoring, automation, and operational standards into CI/CD pipelines and production environmentsWork with an Agile team, attend daily scrums and demonstrate working software while collaborating with a geographically distributed (remote) teamDevelop automated tests using Ansible, Selenium, JMeter, JUnit and/or other applicable toolsTroubleshoot and resolve installation, infrastructure and system issuesProactively and independently identify, report, monitor and mitigate technical risksQUALIFICATIONS:Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance. Ability to pass additional customer suitability screening(s) prior to startCurrent Security+ or equivalent/higherBachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline, plus 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experienceExperience developing software in an Agile environment, including the ability to quickly learn new technologies on a rapidly growing projectAbility to multi-task, self-assign work, and work in a geographically distributed team in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentExperience with distributed version control software such as Git and BitbucketExperience developing software on a Linux platformKnowledge of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of Software EngineeringStrong communication skills that enable proactive and effective collaboration with a virtual team, including the ability to clearly articulate status and present to both customers and program leadershipPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Full software lifecycle experience (design, development, test, deployment), including deployment to a production environmentExperience developing software in an Agile environment, including the ability to quickly learn new technologies on a rapidly growing projectSoftware development experience with Python and Java and SQL, including integration experience with JSON/REST web services, as well as the parsing, generation and validation of JSON. Working knowledge of JavaScriptExperience designing, developing and deploying software in a cloud environment (AWS is a plus)Experience designing, building and deploying DevOps pipelines with Bitbucket, Git, Jenkins, Artifactory and Ansible (or equivalent tools)Experience designing and implementing application deployment pipelines and developing software in a containerized environment with Kubernetes and DockerPAY RANGE: The anticipated salary range for this position is $180,000 - $190,000. This range is a good-faith estimate and not a guarantee of compensation. Final compensation will be based on factors including experience, education, skills, geographic location, internal equity, market data and applicable contract requirements, and may fall outside the posted range.
