About the Company Company: Amazon About the Role Role: Software Development Engineer II (Mid-Senior) Location: Remote (Within the United States) Employment Type: Full-Time About the Role Amazon is seeking an experienced, customer-obsessed Software Development Engineer II (SDE II) to join our team in a fully remote capacity within the United States. In this role, you will design, build, and deploy large-scale distributed systems and high-throughput microservices that power millions of customer interactions every day. As a mid-senior software engineer, you will own the delivery of critical components end-to-end, drive technical architecture choices, mentor team members, and uphold engineering excellence across the entire software development lifecycle. Responsibilities Architecture & Design:Design, develop, and operate resilient, scalable, and low-latency distributed applications and web services using modern cloud architectures.Full Lifecycle Delivery:Own feature delivery from concept, architecture review, and detailed design to implementation, testing, deployment, and operational maintenance.Operational Excellence:Maintain high standards of code hygiene, test automation, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), monitoring, and automated alerting.Technical Collaboration:Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and senior engineering leadership to turn ambiguous business requirements into production-ready software.Engineering Culture:Conduct rigorous code and architecture reviews, mentor early-career engineers, and champion Amazon Leadership Principles like Customer Obsession, Ownership, and Bias for Action. Qualifications Education:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).Experience:Minimum of 2+ years of non-internship professional software engineering and system design experience.Work Authorization:Must be a U.S. Citizen (USC) or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) with permanent, unrestricted U.S. work authorization. (Note: Sponsorship or transfer of work visas such as H-1B, OPT/CPT, or TN is not available for this role.) Required Skills Core Technical Skills:Proficiency in at least one modern object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java, C++, Go, Python, or C#).Solid grounding in Computer Science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, object-oriented design, complexity analysis).Working knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL data stores. Preferred Skills Hands-on experience developing and deploying cloud-native architectures on AWS (e.g., Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, SNS, API Gateway).Experience designing scalable microservices or event-driven distributed architectures.Proven track record of independently driving high-impact technical initiatives in a distributed/remote working setup.Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
