Senior Software Engineer/s Location: Canberra / Melbourne CBD / Scoresby (VIC) Work type: Onsite, full-time 9 Month Fixed-Term Contract @ 180,000 annual package Security: Must hold active TSPV (and be eligible to obtain/maintain additional agency-specific access) The opportunity We're partnering confidentially with a major defence / national security aligned organisation delivering mission-critical platforms and networks that support high-impact outcomes. This is a chance to join a high-performing engineering team working on a large-scale information integration program, where secure engineering practices, quality delivery, and modern tooling are non-negotiable. What you'll be doing You'll work across the full SDLC and contribute to design and delivery of secure, enterprise-grade solutions. Responsibilities will include: Leading and contributing to solution design, prototyping, and engineering approach selectionTranslating requirements into technical deliverables in collaboration with systems/engineering stakeholdersHands-on development, unit/integration testing, and support through release/deploymentPromoting and embedding engineering best practices (secure coding, quality, CI/CD)Mentoring and supporting junior engineers where needed What we're looking for To be successful, you'll bring strong software engineering fundamentals plus solid delivery experience in complex environments, including: Strong commercial experience with Java and JavaScriptExperience building API services and working with enterprise integration patternsWorking knowledge of DevOps / CI/CD, plus tools such as Docker and KubernetesExperience with Agile delivery (Agile / Kanban)Comfort working with tools like Jira and ConfluenceExposure to geospatial systems is highly regardedEligibility (essential): Australian CitizenActive TSPV clearance (this is non-negotiable for this program) Why consider it?
