Senior .NET Engineer

Azikus is a Zagreb-based team of 20 people building mobile and web products for Croatian and international clients and developing products of our own. We’re looking for a Senior .NET Engineer to join our existing in-house backend team, working primarily on two of our own products. You’ll take features from initial requirements through technical design, implementation, testing, and production delivery. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, contribute to architectural decisions, and help build systems that remain reliable and maintainable as they grow. What you’ll work onYour main focus will be two products: A construction management platform connecting project managers, engineers, investors, and contractors. It brings documents, requests, daily reports, and issue resolution into one place, with workflows used both in the office and on construction sites. The platform is already used in production by numerous clients, including Valamar.A new platform for cities and municipalities, built from the ground up to support critical infrastructure and millions of connected devices. You’ll contribute to its architecture and development from the early stages, with reliability and scale central to the work. Our stack includes .NET, Entity Framework, Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), and Azure, with React and TypeScript on the frontend. What you’ll doOwn backend features from requirements and technical design through implementation, release, and ongoing improvement.Build and maintain APIs, business logic, and integrations using C# and .NET.Design data models in MSSQL, manage database migrations, and improve query performance.Contribute to architectural decisions, balancing product needs with reliability, security, performance, and maintainability.Write meaningful unit and integration tests and collaborate with QA on broader test coverage.Work with Azure services and deployment pipelines, and improve application logging and monitoring.Investigate production issues, identify their causes, and implement lasting fixes.Review code, share knowledge, and help other engineers develop their skills.Collaborate with frontend, mobile, and product colleagues to clarify requirements and deliver complete features. What you bringSubstantial experience building and maintaining backend systems in production, with strong proficiency in C# and .NET.Experience designing APIs and integrations, including authentication, authorisation, validation, and error handling.Strong MSSQL skills and a practical understanding of data modelling, transactions, indexing, and query optimisation.Experience writing automated tests and structuring code so it is straightforward to understand, test, and maintain.Familiarity with cloud environments and CI/CD workflows. Azure experience is preferred; experience with other cloud platforms is also welcome.The ability to investigate problems across application code, databases, and infrastructure.Sound technical judgment: you can explain trade-offs, challenge assumptions constructively, and choose solutions appropriate to the problem.The confidence to work independently while collaborating closely with the team.Fluency in English and Croatian.Availability for a hybrid work setup in Zagreb. React experience is welcome, as is the ability to use AI development tools effectively to contribute to frontend development. You should be comfortable understanding, reviewing, testing, and refining the code you produce with those tools. This is a preferred skill, not a requirement.
