Senior DevOps Engineer

ING Bank is seeking a Senior DevOps/SRE Engineer to join their Platform Engineering team at their Amsterdam Cedar office. In this role, you will take full ownership of the DevOps platform, driving automation, reliability, and operational excellence across a Linux-based infrastructure serving critical banking systems. Responsibilities Own and manage the DevOps platform, automating configuration via Ansible, deployments through Azure DevOps and GitHub pipelines, and operational tasks using Python and Shell scriptingEnsure complete visibility across Deployments, Operations, Production Support, High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Backup & Restore, Security Monitoring, and Full Stack ObservabilityTake ownership of Linux (RHEL) platform operations, ensuring stability, performance, security, and continuous improvementImplement and optimise monitoring and observability using Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry (OTEL), and ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)Support and execute High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) testing activitiesManage lifecycle of platform components including Operating Systems, Middleware, Certificates, User Access Management, Vulnerability Remediation, and Security PatchingIdentify and resolve root causes of incidents and recurring issues, proposing sustainable solutionsDrive continuous deployment and delivery using Azure DevOps and GitHub pipelinesCollaborate within Agile/Scrum squads, working closely with Technical Product Owners and stakeholdersEnsure IT Risk and Security controls are implemented and maintained in accordance with ING's Information Security Management PolicyAnalyse logs, metrics, traces, and telemetry data to proactively identify performance bottlenecks and reliability risks Work environment You will work within a collaborative Agile/Scrum team at ING Bank's Cedar office in Amsterdam. The role offers hybrid flexibility, allowing you to work from home or the office garden. You will collaborate closely with platform engineers, application teams, and stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and automation across the infrastructure. Requirements 5+ years' experience in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering rolesStrong hands-on experience with Ansible and configuration managementProven Linux administration expertise, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and patchingSolid CI/CD experience with Azure DevOps and/or GitHub PipelinesDemonstrated experience with monitoring and observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK Stack)Proficiency in automation scripting using Python and ShellExperience with containerisation and virtualisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, VMware, OpenShift)Strong analytical skills, proactive mindset, and excellent communication abilities Nice to have: RHEL certification (RHCSA/RHCE), Oracle Database administration experience, Spring Boot framework knowledge, TIBCO EMS/MQ experience, IBM WebSphere experience, Security and IT Risk experience (SOX, vulnerability management), low-latency infrastructure knowledge, Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
