This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Application Developer based in Canada. As a Senior Software Application Developer, you will help define technical direction and deliver secure, scalable software for a customer-facing SaaS platform. You will lead complex, cross-functional initiatives spanning architecture, AI-enabled capabilities, cloud infrastructure, and engineering excellence. The role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, enabling teams to adopt AI-native and agentic engineering practices responsibly. You will shape reliable systems while balancing product velocity, security, maintainability, and long-term operating costs. Working across engineering, product, design, QA, and leadership, you will influence technical decisions and raise development standards. Accountabilities Own architecture and technical direction for high-impact platform capabilities, balancing delivery speed, reliability, security, maintainability, and operating costs.Design and evolve scalable APIs, distributed services, and data flows using TypeScript, Node.js, Redis, OpenSearch, PostgreSQL, and event-driven architecture.Lead development of AI-enabled product capabilities, including LLM integrations, retrieval and evaluation pipelines, orchestration, tool use, and human-in-the-loop controls.Establish AI-native and agentic SDLC practices covering specification-driven development, AI-assisted design and implementation, automated testing, code review, release validation, and incident investigation.Build evaluation and guardrail systems for AI-assisted workflows, addressing quality, safety, security, privacy, observability, cost, regression detection, and rollback.Set production-readiness standards across AWS services and cloud-native infrastructure, including CloudFront, S3, API Gateway, ECS, Lambda, and RDS.Drive secure-by-design engineering through OWASP-aligned practices, tenant isolation, data protection, secrets management, access controls, and compliance-aware decisions.Lead ambiguous, multi-team initiatives from technical discovery through rollout while clearly communicating trade-offs and technical rationale.Strengthen engineering excellence through architecture reviews, code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD quality gates, reliability practices, and pragmatic documentation.Mentor engineers at different levels and contribute to technical roadmaps, hiring, engineering standards, and operating practices. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent depth of professional experience.10+ years of software engineering experience, including substantial experience designing and operating large-scale, customer-facing SaaS systems.Demonstrated technical leadership across teams, with the ability to influence architecture and engineering direction.Deep expertise in TypeScript, Node.js, SQL, API design, distributed systems, and practical system architecture.Proven experience building or operating AI-enabled software in production, including LLM applications, RAG or retrieval systems, tool calling, workflow orchestration, evaluation, monitoring, and risk controls.Hands-on experience with AI-native or agentic software development workflows while maintaining human oversight, strong test coverage, security controls, and accountable engineering ownership.Strong experience with Docker or container platforms, GitHub, CI/CD, observability, and cloud security practices.Expert understanding of event-driven architecture, multi-tenancy, performance, reliability, and security, with the judgment to select simple and resilient solutions.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts and trade-offs to diverse audiences.Coaching mindset and proven ability to increase team effectiveness through mentoring, technical standards, and collaborative leadership.
