Senior Software Engineer

Own complex software delivery and modernise a live estate without defaulting to a rewrite. MoneyPlus is modernising its engineering estate while continuing to deliver high-value product and platform work. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll own complex features end to end, write production code, surface risk early and help other engineers get stronger through thoughtful review and pairing. What you’ll be doing Turn requirements into clear implementation plans and take complex work through design, build, test and production.Contribute production code most days and break large or ambiguous work into smaller, lower-risk increments.Improve legacy PHP and Laravel code incrementally in a live system, balancing delivery, risk and maintainability.Use code review and pairing to improve both the code and the capability of other engineers.Identify assumptions, dependencies, constraints and non-functional concerns during planning and bring considered trade-offs rather than late surprises.Step into urgent or ambiguous technical problems when needed, helping restore progress without becoming the default owner for all work. What we’re looking for End-to-end feature ownership: Evidence of personally owning a complex feature from requirement through production, including decomposition, decisions, risks and outcome.Legacy modernisation: Evidence of improving legacy code in a live system through incremental, well-tested change rather than defaulting to rewrite.Review and mentoring: Evidence that code review, pairing or technical feedback improved another engineer’s work or approach.Non-functional judgement: Evidence of reasoning about performance, observability, security and resilience trade-offs; MoneyPlus-specific tooling can be learned.Transferable evidence is welcome. Regulated-sector experience is useful but not essential where you can demonstrate comparable ownership, modernisation judgement and non-functional engineering depth. Why join MoneyPlus?
