Senior Full Stack Engineer - Electronic Trading Platform

We're looking for Senior Full Stack Java Engineers to join a high-performing engineering team building and evolving a next-generation electronic trading platform for a major Australian financial institution. These are day rate contracts with for an 18-month program of work. This is an opportunity to work across the full technology stack, building user-facing applications and backend trading services that support institutional equities trading, order management, execution and connectivity to financial markets. Australian financial markets experience is essential. We're looking for engineers who understand the technology and workflows behind Australian equities trading and have hands-on experience working within the banking, brokerage, investment or financial markets sector. What you'll be working on Design, develop and enhance full stack applications supporting electronic trading and execution. Build high-performance Java backend services supporting order management, execution and trading workflows. Develop modern frontend applications used by traders, operations and other financial markets users. Build and enhance Order Management Systems (OMS) and trading workflows. Develop Smart Order Routing (SOR) capabilities and order execution functionality. Integrate with Australian and international exchanges and trading venues. Work with real-time market data and trading information. Develop APIs, event-driven services and distributed applications supporting high-volume trading. Build resilient, highly available systems capable of handling critical trading workflows. Work closely with front-office traders, business analysts, product teams and other engineering teams. Contribute to architecture, design, testing, deployment and production support across the full application lifecycle. Technology Stack Backend Java Spring Boot Microservices REST APIs Event-driven architecture Kafka / Solace Distributed systems Multithreading and concurrency Frontend React / Angular or similar modern JavaScript frameworks TypeScript / JavaScript HTML / CSS REST / API integration Essential: Strong commercial experience as a Full Stack Java Engineer. Excellent Java / Spring Boot development experience. Strong frontend development experience using React, Angular or similar. Experience designing and building APIs, distributed systems and event-driven applications. Australian financial markets experience is essential. Experience within Australian banking, brokerage, investment banking, equities trading, exchange or financial markets technology. Understanding of equities trading and electronic execution workflows.
