A mid-level software engineering role focused on autonomous aerial systems and robotics. You will develop high-performance C++ software for edge computing platforms, integrate open-source flight stacks, and work across computer vision, robotic perception, guidance, navigation, and control. Strong mathematical modeling and low-latency engineering are central to the role.
Highlights
Mid-level engineering role working on autonomous aerial platforms and advanced robotics. The position combines C++ development, computer vision, perception, navigation and control, edge computing, and open-source flight stacks to build high-performance real-world systems.
Description
At Orqa, we’re building technology that allows humans and machines to see the world like never before.
We bring together engineers, creators, and innovators who push the boundaries of what’s possible – from cutting-edge FPV systems to advanced Remote Reality solutions, and toward the next generation of robotics.
And behind every great technology, there’s great organization.
We’re looking for a UAV Software Engineer to design, build, and optimize core software architectures for our autonomous aerial platforms.
In this role, you’ll work at the dynamic intersection of computer vision, mobile robotics perception, and Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems.
Working on custom edge compute hardware like NVIDIA Jetson, you will develop high-performance C++ code, integrate open-source flight stacks (PX4/ArduPilot), and apply advanced mathematical modeling to bring ultra-low-latency real-world capabilities to our next-generation UAVs.
What You’ll Do
Develop and implement software architectures for UAV systems, perception, and GNC (Guidance, Navigation, and Control)Design and optimize real-time computer vision (CV) and image processing algorithms using OpenCVWrite and optimize high-performance C++ and Python code tailored for custom edge compute hardware (NVIDIA Jetson, TensorRT, CUDA)Integrate and maintain open-source flight control stacks (PX4, ArduPilot) and manage communication via ROS 2 and MAVLink protocolsApply state estimation techniques (Kalman filtering), 3D spatial geometry, and optimization mechanisms for low-latency algorithmsCollaborate closely with hardware, RF, and flight test teams to validate autonomous behaviors in real-world environments
What We Expect
Master’s (Mag.
ing.) or PhD (Dr.
sc.) in Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Control Systems, or a related field3+ years of professional experience in UAV software development, mobile robotics perception, or GNC architecturesStrong hands-on experience with real-time computer vision, OpenCV, and perception algorithmsHigh-level proficiency in C++ and Python optimized for edge compute hardware (NVIDIA Jetson, TensorRT, CUDA)Solid experience with open-source flight control systems (PX4, ArduPilot) and robotics middleware (ROS 2, MAVLink)Exceptional mathematical foundation: linear algebra, state estimation (Kalman filtering), 3D spatial geometry, and low-latency algorithm optimizationFull professional proficiency in English (both written and spoken)
