Job description Job Type Full Time Location Naperville, IL Department Development Reports to Director of Development Position Summary TOGA Technology is looking for a Full Stack Developer to help build and grow our platform of business applications. This is a full stack role for someone who wants real ownership of features, not just tickets, and who is excited to help shape how a growing platform gets built. This role requires genuine comfort working alongside AI coding tools. Producing code is no longer the hard part: knowing when AI generated code is subtly wrong, and having the discipline to verify rather than assume, is what separates a strong developer from a risky one. We are looking for someone who pairs real technical skill with intellectual humility, comfortable saying, “I don’t know, let me check,” yet confident enough to push back when something doesn’t look right. You will take real ownership of features, and over time, whole applications, with meaningful autonomy. Job Requirements · Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in full stack or web application development · Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (Required) · Expertise in PHP; or experience with Java or similar languages · Proficiency in AWS; or familiarity with Azure or Google Cloud · Ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code · Experience contributing to both front-end and back-end development tasks · Strong understanding of RESTful API design and integration · Knowledge of OAuth, JWT, and other authentication/authorization protocols · Experience working with and building automated job systems, such as workers, cron jobs, or cloud-native schedulers · Familiarity with secure coding practices and basic performance tuning · Willingness to participate in code reviews and team discussions · Ability to test, debug, and deploy code across staging and production environments · Clear written and verbal communication · Real, hands-on production experience using AI coding tools (Claude Code strongly preferred): this is core to how our team builds software, not an occasional convenience · Comfortable reading AI generated code closely enough to catch subtle bugs, bad assumptions, or hallucinated logic before it ships · Skilled at writing clear, well-scoped prompts that give AI tools the right architectural context, and at critically evaluating what comes back rather than accepting it at face value Personal Skills · Humble and self-aware: quick to say, “I don’t know, let me check,” rather than assume your own or AI-generated work is correct · Has backbone: willing to voice disagreement and defend your reasoning; we are not looking for someone who just goes along to get along · A genuine investigator by habit: verifies before asserting something works, rather than moving fast and assuming · Detail-oriented and disciplined about testing and QA · Curious about how systems are architected, not just how to close the ticket in front of you · A reliable go-getter who can be handed a feature, and eventually a whole application, and trusted to run with it · Open to feedback and genuinely interested in examining your own mistakes, not just defending them · Codes as a hobby or passion outside of work, not just a day-job skill Professional Experience · 3+ years of professional experience as a full stack developer (or equivalent) · 4-year degree in Computer Science or related technical field · Experience collaborating with teams to deliver production-grade web applications · Exposure to high-volume systems and API-driven applications · Familiarity with Agile methodologies and version control workflows · Bonus: Prior work in client services, B2B platforms, or enterprise environments · Track record of owning a feature or project end-to-end with minimal oversight · Practical experience integrating AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) into a real production workflow Technical Experience · Proficient in PHP (Java is also acceptable), JavaScript, and relational databases (preferably MySQL) · Comfortable with HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles · Understanding of RESTful API design and consumption · Working knowledge of AWS infrastructure and deployment practices · Experience using Git for version control and collaboration · Exposure to front-end frameworks such as React (preferred), Angular, or Vue · Daily, practical fluency with Claude Code or a comparable agentic AI coding tool in a real codebase · Strong prompt-writing and prompt-reading skills: giving AI tools precise context and constraints, then critically reviewing what they return Fluent in: · PHP (or Java) · AWS · Relational database design · MySQL · API (RESTful preferred) · HTML · JavaScript · React, Angular or Vue · AI-assisted development (Claude Code) Bonus skills: · AJAX · JSON · Linux CLI · MVC framework methodologies · Agile · Other AI/LLM coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, etc.) · Multi-application platform architecture Compensation · Comp: $75K/Annually · 16 paid days off and 10 paid holidays per year · Comprehensive benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and 401(k) · Paid training and advancement opportunities Equal Opportunity TOGA Technology is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
