Position Overview: BLN24 is seeking a Senior Back End Web Developer to support CFPB's RegTech BPA program by designing, building, and optimizing the back-end services behind public-facing regulatory applications. This role requires deep experience with Scala and the Akka Toolkit, CQRS and event-driven architecture, and high-performance API and database development within containerized microservices orchestrated by Kubernetes. Key Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain back-end services using Scala and the Akka Toolkit, applying functional programming, reactive programming, and actor-based concurrencyBuild and evolve components of a CQRS, event-driven architectureDevelop and optimize database queries across relational and non-relational stores, including PostgreSQL and Cassandra / AWS KeyspacesImplement data access layers using Slick or comparable ORM librariesBuild and optimize APIs that handle complex JSON payloadsWrite unit and integration tests that validate end-to-end API responsesDevelop containerized microservices for Docker and deploy them on KubernetesManage source code, reviews, and planning in GitHub, collaborating with architects, front-end developers, and product owners in an Agile teamRequired Qualifications:8+ years of professional back-end development experienceExperience in functional programming using Scala, including the Akka Toolkit, the reactive programming model, and actor-based concurrencyExperience working on a CQRS, event-driven architectureDemonstrated experience developing and optimizing database queries in relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) structures, such as PostgreSQL and Cassandra / AWS KeyspacesExpertise using Slick or another Object Relational Mapping (ORM) libraryExpertise building and optimizing APIs with complex JSON payloadsExperience creating unit tests and integration tests that validate end-to-end API responsesExperience developing containerized microservices, with specific skills developing for Docker containers using Kubernetes orchestrationExperience working with GitHub for source code management and planningBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; Master's degree preferred Preferred Qualifications:Experience using asynchronous Python methodologies or similarExperience with a front-end framework such as VueJS, especially ReactJSDemonstrated experience working on open-source projects, including delivering public-facing solutionsPrior engagement at CFPB or other federal financial regulators (e.g., FDIC, OCC, SEC, FRB, NCUA)Experience delivering solutions in a federal FISMA Moderate or comparable security-compliance environment What BLN24 brings to the Game: BLN24 benefits are game changing.
