About the Role
The Software Engineer will build and scale core systems supporting a real-time, machine learning-based advertising platform.
The role focuses on designing, implementing, and operating distributed, low-latency, high-throughput services, including systems for real-time bidding and decisioning, with an emphasis on performance, reliability, scalability, and observability.
This position also works across cloud-native infrastructure and deployment tooling while collaborating closely with product and data teams.
Strong systems engineering experience, proficiency in compiled languages, architectural ownership, CI/CD knowledge, observability practices, and the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous technical environments are central to the role.
What You'll Do
Build and scale core systems that support a real-time, machine learning-based advertising stack.Design, implement, and operate distributed services requiring low latency, high throughput, reliability, and scalability.Develop systems supporting real-time bidding and decisioning workloads.Build and maintain cloud-native infrastructure and deployment tooling.Design clean interfaces, modular service boundaries, and deployment patterns that can scale with product and engineering growth.Apply observability, alerting, and reproducibility practices to production systems.Treat CI/CD and infrastructure as first-class parts of software delivery and system operations.Collaborate closely with product and data teams to deliver performant, reliable, and observable systems.Turn ambiguous technical problems into clear, actionable implementation plans.Balance strong technical standards with pragmatic delivery decisions, including when to ship and when to refactor.
Qualifications
Required Experience
Deep experience building or scaling distributed, high-throughput, low-latency systems.Experience working with real-time systems; experience in advertising, recommendation systems, or another real-time domain is particularly relevant.Demonstrated ownership of complex technical work, including operating in ambiguous environments and translating uncertainty into actionable implementation plans.Experience taking architectural ownership of service interfaces, modular system boundaries, and scalable deployment patterns.
Required Skills
Strong proficiency in one or more compiled languages, including Go, Rust, C++, Scala, or Java, with an emphasis on code clarity, correctness, and performance.Strong distributed systems knowledge with the ability to design and scale high-throughput, low-latency services.Ability to design clean interfaces and modular service boundaries that support product and engineering growth.Strong understanding of observability, alerting, and reproducibility for production systems.Practical knowledge of CI/CD, infrastructure, deployment practices, and operational reliability.Ability to maintain strong technical standards while making pragmatic decisions about delivery, iteration, and refactoring.
