Role Overview
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to join the Chief Technology Office engineering team.
The engineer will build secure, scalable, high-availability backend services and contribute to Booz Allen's Software-Defined Everything (SDE) platform.
The role is heavily focused on Go/Golang backend development, REST APIs, AWS, microservices, and AI-assisted software development.
The ideal candidate should have strong backend engineering experience and be able to quickly ramp up in Go if their primary background is Java or C#.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, deploy, and operate scalable production-grade software services.Build backend services and RESTful APIs using Go/Golang, Java, C#, or Node.js.Develop and maintain microservices and distributed applications in AWS.Design secure, scalable, and high-performance backend architectures.Deploy and operate applications in AWS production environments.Work with relational and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB.Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring, telemetry, alerting, and fault-tolerant capabilities.Integrate generative AI and AI development tools to accelerate coding, development, testing, and code review.Write clean, efficient, secure, and maintainable code.Apply authentication, authorization, and security best practices.Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other technical teams.Communicate architecture decisions and technical trade-offs effectively.Contribute to new product development with significant ownership and autonomy.
Required Skills
3+ years of backend development experience, including REST API services.Strong Go/Golang experience is highly preferred and a major requirement.5+ years of software development experience using Go, Java, Node.js, or C#.Experience deploying and operating services in AWS production environments.3+ years of experience with microservices, distributed systems, or serverless architectures.Experience with REST APIs and backend services.3+ years of experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.Experience with CI/CD pipelines.Experience with cloud-based application development.Experience using Generative AI/AI coding tools for development and code review.Knowledge of authentication, authorization, security, and secure development practices.Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
