Senior Product Engineer

Senior Product Engineer (fintech) | Fully Remote (UK) | £75–85k + benefits I’m hiring for a London-based behavioural finance/fintech client. The team is small, the product is used by wealth managers, banks and digital advisers, and this role is fully remote, UK residents with the right to work only. This is not a “ticket factory” full-stack job. You’ll own larger, less-defined problems: what should be built as well as how it gets built. You’ll work directly with product, research and occasionally clients, not from a fully specified brief. What you’ll do Ship features end to end: Laravel/PHP services and APIs, React SPAs, and the middle layer that joins themMake architecture and product judgement calls, not just implement ticketsWork with AWS as part of normal delivery (Lambda, S3, Glue, Bedrock, CloudFront)Use AI coding tools as a core part of how you build — expected to raise what you ship, not as a gimmickPush back when a requirement doesn’t hold up, and find the simpler solutionScope work clearly enough to brief freelancers/contractors and review what comes backSplit time between a next-gen greenfield platform and supporting the live product for enterprise clients Stack Backend: Laravel / PHP, microservices, BFF Frontend: React, SPAs Cloud: AWS Data: Power BI, AWS data lake, HubSpot Tooling: GitHub, Jira, Confluence Who this suits Strong across the stacK; AI tools accelerate you; they don’t replace engineering judgementYou think about abstractions: what belongs where, what will hurt later if you take the fast path nowYou’ve owned messy problems before (feature from idea to production, shaped a solution, pushed back on a bad spec)Comfortable with ambiguity, at this level you often decide what to buildCurious about the product and the users, not only the codeYears of experience matter less than evidence you’ve actually owned outcomes The setup Small, high-trust engineering team.
