We're already in the UK, France, and Germany, and the new Poland location is a global engineering and product development hub alongside our headquarters in Redwood City, California. Depending on your skills, experience, and preferences, you’ll have the opportunity to join one of several teams to solve some of the toughest challenges as we build out the future of content management in the cloud. Your work will directly impact the productivity of millions of users at some of today’s most significant enterprises. We are currently looking for the engineers for the following teams: Core Data Async: You will join a newly formed Data Foundations team within Core Data, responsible for building, operating, and evolving the asynchronous data services that support Box’s data infrastructure. The team helps ensure that data remains reliable, consistent, and synchronized across different systems and data stores, supporting a wide range of services and internal teams across Box. The team will take ownership of a number of existing services and work on improving their reliability, observability, scalability, and overall architecture. This is an opportunity to work on foundational, large-scale data infrastructure and help shape the evolution of a new team and its platform.Storage Platform: You'll be at the heart of how the world accesses its content. The Storage Clients team builds the critical gateway services that power every upload, download, and collaboration at Box, and we need a Senior Software Engineer to help us scale to the next level. Your work will directly enable millions of users to sync files via SFTP, download ZIP archives of their content, collaborate on Microsoft Office documents, and move content through email integrations. This is infrastructure that touches every Box customer, every day, across an exabyte-scale platform spanning in multiple GCP and AWS regions worldwide. The challenge is real, and so is the opportunity. You'll solve complex distributed systems problems: ensuring data consistency across regions, optimizing global latency and building resilient services using Java, Scala, Kubernetes and more. With new integration patterns emerging, you'll have the autonomy to drive technical direction, mentor engineers, and shape how enterprises move their most critical content. What you’ll do: Develop high-quality, scalable, and responsive software using modern technologies.Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using industry best practices.Partner with cross-functional teams to onboard, share knowledge, and align on current responsibilities and prioritiesParticipate in regular team meetings and manager 1:1s to ensure alignment, growth, and continuous improvementCreate clear technical documentation, reusable patterns, and examples to scale knowledge across engineering teamsLeverage AI tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor) to accelerate development, research, documentation, and bug triage while maintaining high standards of quality and securityRepresent and advocate for Box Poland’s engineering excellence both internally and externallyMaintain and support one or more legacy codebasesContribute to defining and implementing engineering standards across product teamsParticipate in our on-call rotation, available at all times while on-call to help respond to and triage any issues that arise. Who you are: Strong coder with demonstrated proficiency in one of the backend languages such as Java or Scala.5+ years of Software Development experience in distributed systems.You have experience designing, building, and deploying high quality software.You have a passion for building highly available and scalable distributed systems at large scale.You are excited about solving complex technical problems using data-driven solutions.You act like an owner and strive to do work you're proud of, both technically and in your team interactions.BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.You speak English proficiently.
