Role Description The Junior Database Engineer will support the design, development, and maintenance of databases used in LavamTech’s software products and client solutions. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with database configuration, performance tuning, data modeling, and supporting Extract Transform Load (ETL) workflows under the guidance of senior engineers. The role involves troubleshooting database issues, helping ensure data integrity and security, and collaborating with developers to optimize queries and schemas for application performance. The Junior Database Engineer will document database structures, processes, and best practices, and participate in periodic reviews and updates of database environments. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Kathmandu, requiring close coordination with colleagues and participation in regular reviews, stand-ups, and project planning activities. Qualifications Candidates should possess skills in Database Design and Data Modeling for relational and/or NoSQL systems.Candidates should possess skills in Database Development, including writing queries, stored procedures, and scripts.Candidates should possess skills in Database Administration, such as monitoring, backup/restore, and basic performance tuning.Candidates should possess skills related to Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes and data integration workflows.Basic knowledge of SQL and at least one major database platform (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Oracle).Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or relevant practical experience).Ability to work collaboratively in a team, follow established standards, and learn from feedback in a fast-paced environment.Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and an interest in building a career in database engineering.Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and basic understanding of application development lifecycles is a plus.
