Integration Engineer MuleSoft & Azure

Contract: 12 months (subject to extension). Location: Zuid-Holland, Netherlands. Salary: Not a constraint for the right candidate! Experience: 8-10 years. Hybrid: 2 days Work from Home 3 days Work from Office Your Profile & DNA: We are looking for an Integration Engineer who can keep our substantial MuleSoft API landscape running and evolving while helping us build the future on Azure Functions. Our strategy is to gradually move away from MuleSoft, and in this role you support the existing platform and bring the Azure expertise needed to guide that transition. In the short term you complete the MuleSoft migration to the new Java version and support the Trade Recommendation Gateway, which streams Bloomberg and FlexTrade trade data to our data scientists. You also contribute to the design and pilot of Python based APIs within the department and help prepare a migration proposal together with the API Platform team. You work closely with data scientists, the API Platform team and other engineering colleagues, and your input helps shape how integrations are built here for years to come. There is also room to explore how this migration could serve as a use case for our Agentic Development Workflow. Roles & Responsibilities Maintain and further develop the existing MuleSoft API landscapeComplete the migration of MuleSoft to the new Java versionSupport and further develop the Trade Recommendation Gateway, the Bloomberg and FlexTrade trade data stream for data scientistsTroubleshoot and resolve incidents in production MuleSoft integrationsDesign, build and pilot Python based APIs within the departmentPerform minor maintenance on existing APIs and integrationsPrepare a migration proposal for moving integrations from MuleSoft to Azure Functions, in consultation with the API Platform teamBring Azure expertise into the team to help guide the transition away from MuleSoftContribute technical input to explore whether the migration is a suitable use case for the Agentic Development WorkflowCollaborate with data scientists on the requirements and reliability of the trade data streamDocument integration designs, migration decisions and operational proceduresSafeguard performance, security and stability of the API landscape during the transition Qualification & Experience A Bachelor's or Master's Degree or equivalent.Several years of hands-on experience with MuleSoft API development and maintenanceExperience with Java, including migrating applications between Java versionsPractical experience with Azure, particularly Azure FunctionsExperience with Python for API developmentAffinity with financial trade data or market data streams (e.g. Bloomberg, FlexTrade) is a strong plusSolid understanding of API design, integration patterns and data pipelinesExperience preparing or contributing to migration proposals or technical roadmapsAbility to work independently within a complex, mission critical API landscapeFluent in English, both written and spokenAvailable 3 days per week on-site in Zuid-HollandNice-to-haves MuleSoft certification (e.g. MuleSoft Certified Developer)Microsoft Azure certificationExperience in the financial services or asset management sectorFamiliarity with agentic development workflows or AI assisted development toolingCOMPETENCIES Strong stakeholder management across data science, engineering and platform teamsClear and proactive communicationStrong analytical skillsComfortable working in an Agile / DevOps way of workingSense of ownership over the systems you maintain and buildProactive attitude in identifying and resolving risks during migrationStructured and methodical way of workingPragmatic, solution oriented mindset in a landscape that is being modernized step by step What do we offer?
