Build the Cloud Platform Behind Global AgTech Innovation At eShepherd, we're transforming livestock farming through world-leading virtual fencing technology. Our platform combines solar-powered neckbands, mobile applications and cloud software to help farmers manage livestock without physical fences. With deployments across Australia, New Zealand, North America and beyond, we're scaling rapidly and looking for a CloudOps Engineer to help build the platform that powers it all. This is an opportunity to work on a global IoT platform, solve complex engineering challenges and have a direct impact on technology used every day by farmers around the world. The Opportunity As our customer base, device volumes and product offerings grow, so does the complexity of the cloud infrastructure supporting them. You'll help ensure our platform remains secure, reliable, scalable and ready for growth by: Designing, building and optimising AWS cloud infrastructureImproving platform reliability, performance and scalabilityBuilding and maintaining Infrastructure as Code, automation and CI/CD pipelinesStrengthening monitoring, observability and incident response practicesSupporting multi-region deployments and global platform architectureImproving database performance and operational efficiencyInvestigating and solving complex performance challenges before customers experience themWorking closely with software engineers to deliver secure, scalable solutions This is a hands-on role with plenty of autonomy, ownership and influence. What You'll Bring You'll enjoy solving difficult technical problems and understanding how systems work beneath the surface. Ideally, You'll Bring Experience operating and scaling production AWS environmentsStrong DevOps and cloud engineering capabilityExperience with ECS, EKS or containerised platformsInfrastructure as Code experience, ideally TerraformStrong CI/CD and automation skillsExperience with monitoring, alerting and incident responseDatabase optimisation and performance tuning experiencePython, Node.js or similar scripting capabilityStrong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across distributed teams Highly Regarded IoT platforms and connected devicesMQTT, LTE-M, NB-IoT or LoRaGrafana, Prometheus or similar toolingMulti-region cloud deploymentsDevSecOps practicesHigh-volume telemetry or time-series workloads Why This Role Is Different The systems you build don't just support software. Supporting a Global Customer Base A key aspect of this role is supporting our growing North American customer base. To provide strong coverage during US business hours, this role requires flexibility to work outside standard New Zealand business hours when needed.
