Senior Cloud Engineer Senior Cloud Engineer SMART Cloud Automation (SCA) | Cross-capability workload layer on top of SMART Landing Zones (AWS, Azure, GCP) Profile Summary As a Senior Cloud Engineer within SMART Cloud Automation (SCA), you will help ensure the reliability, security, and operational excellence of Bayer’s multi-cloud platform ecosystem. Working across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments, you will build and maintain cloud automation, strengthen governance and compliance controls, improve platform resilience, and drive continuous optimization. Combining deep cloud engineering expertise with automation-first thinking, you will play a key role in keeping large-scale cloud environments secure, compliant, and efficient while enabling sustainable platform growth. Your Tasks And Responsibilities The primary responsibilities of this role are to: Design, build, and maintain automation solutions that improve cloud governance, security, compliance, and cost efficiency across multi-cloud environments; Identify, investigate, and remediate non-compliant or inconsistent cloud configurations across AWS, Azure, and GCP; Develop and maintain monitoring, health checks, auditing mechanisms, and operational controls for platform services; Build, optimize, and secure CI/CD pipelines and cloud delivery workflows; Drive vulnerability management, patch compliance, and governance enforcement activities across the cloud estate; Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and long-term resolution of complex platform, infrastructure, and automation issues; Maintain operational recovery capabilities, including runbooks, rollback procedures, dependency mapping, and incident response documentation; Collaborate closely with engineering, architecture, and product teams to improve platform reliability and operational maturity; Prepare and maintain technical documentation, implementation guidance, and engineering best practices; Communicate technical risks, compliance topics, and operational recommendations to both technical and business stakeholders. WHO YOU ARE Must-have Qualifications Minimum four years of hands-on cloud engineering experience, with strong expertise in AWS or Microsoft Azure; Working knowledge of AWS and/or Microsoft Azure and/or GCP cloud services and architectures; Strong Python programming skills for automation, API integrations, cloud tooling, and operational engineering; Experience with Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform and cloud-native IaC solutions; Understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD practices, and secure software delivery processes; Experience with containerization technologies and Kubernetes; Knowledge of cloud networking, identity and access management, compute, storage, monitoring, and automation services; Experience applying Well-Architected Framework principles and working within agile delivery environments; Experience with AI-assisted and specification-driven development approaches, ideally using OpenSpec or comparable frameworks; Ability to communicate technical risks and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders; Experience working in distributed, cross-functional, and intercultural teams; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience; Fluent English communication skills. Nice-to-have Qualifications Experience with compliance, governance, auditing, or regulatory requirements in enterprise environments; AWS or Azure certification; Experience operating shared cloud platforms supporting a large internal user community; Experience with observability, incident management, and operational excellence practices; Experience supporting large-scale cloud automation and platform engineering initiatives. The minimum monthly gross compensation for this role is 20 240 PLN, with final pay determined based on objective factors such as experience, qualifications, scope of responsibility, and internal alignment. This position is eligible for variable pay components, such as performance‑based bonuses, awarded in accordance with the applicable employee group, role scope, and compensation structure.
