💻 Senior Python Backend Developer | Private Credit & FinTech | £85k-£90k + Bonus | Senior Python Developer 💰 £70,000-£90,000 + Performance Bonus 📍 London | 3-4 days a week in the office 🐍 Python | Django | Flask | Pandas | APIs | Data Pipelines | Airflow I'm working with a growing FinTech business that's built its own technology platform for managing complex private credit and asset-backed finance portfolios. They're looking for a Senior Python Backend Developer to join their engineering team and help scale the platform as the business takes on a significant number of new projects. This isn't a traditional financial institution building internal systems. They've built a proprietary SaaS platform that's central to how their clients manage and monitor complex financial assets. The Opportunity You'll join a team of around 10-15 engineers, working across the backend platform, APIs, data pipelines and calculation engines that underpin the product. It's a hands-on role, but one where you'll have genuine ownership. There isn't currently a dedicated Product Manager, so engineers have a meaningful influence over how features and components are developed. You'll initially spend time getting to know the platform and contributing to delivery, before taking increasing ownership of features and technical areas. What You'll Be Doing ✅ Building and improving backend services and APIs using Python. ✅ Working across Django, Flask and data-processing tools such as Pandas. ✅ Developing data pipelines and calculation engines that support complex financial workflows. ✅ Improving the performance, scalability, reliability and maintainability of the platform. ✅ Contributing to architecture, testing, observability and continuous delivery. ✅ Working closely with engineering and domain teams to turn business requirements into robust technical solutions. ✅ Helping evolve the way the team approaches data orchestration, with Airflow an area where they are keen to develop further expertise. What They're Looking For ✅ Strong commercial experience building software with Python. ✅ Experience with technologies such as Django, Flask, Pandas, ETL or orchestration frameworks. ✅ Comfortable working with APIs, data-heavy applications and backend systems. ✅ Previous experience in a startup or scale-up environment, where you've had genuine ownership. ✅ Someone who enjoys solving problems across both software engineering and data rather than being narrowly specialised. ✅ Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You don't need to have experience with everything listed above. They're more interested in finding a strong Python engineer who can get to grips with the platform and contribute across the backend. Tech Stack Python | Django | Flask | Pandas | APIs | Data Pipelines | Airflow | Cloud The team is particularly interested in developing its orchestration capabilities, so experience with Airflow or similar tooling would be a nice addition, but isn't essential.
