PHP Software Engineer (Yii2) - Lending Platform

Location: Alderley Edge, Cheshire · Hybrid (at least 2 days a week in the office) About us Chrysalis Finance is the UK's largest finance provider in the medical and dental sectors. Our Automatic Lending Platform (ALP) handles the full loan lifecycle: applications, automated credit decisioning, loan management and payments. It integrates with credit reference agencies, lenders and payment providers. We're ISO27001 accredited and build with security first. The role We're hiring a mid-to-senior PHP engineer to work on our core lending platform. The codebase is mature and moves real money under FCA regulation. The work is full-stack but mostly backend PHP. You'll build features across: Our automated decision engine, loan management and payment processingIntegrations with credit bureaus (TransUnion, Equifax), lenders and payment gatewaysCustomer and retailer portalsWe're an AI-forward team. We use Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor and AI-assisted code review every day. You'll use them too, and you'll own and understand every line you ship. What you'll do Build and maintain features in our multi-application Yii2 platform (300+ ActiveRecord models)Build and harden third-party integrations and webhook handlersWork on our event-driven workflows, rule-based decision engine and queue-based background jobsOptimise MySQL queries and Redis cachingBuild RESTful APIs for internal and external consumersWrite unit and functional tests with CodeceptionReview code, both human-written and AI-generated, with a focus on security and correctnessDebug production issues involving financial transactions Essential 3+ years of professional PHP development, using modern PHP (8.1+)Solid MVC/OOP fundamentals.
