Cloud Software Developer Location: Utrecht Start: ASAP End Date: 30 September 2027 Working Model: Hybrid - minimum 1 day per week onsite in Utrecht Contract Type: Payroll / Employment contract only - ZZP not permitted Application Deadline: 24 September, 13:00 Interviews: As soon as possible About the Role We are looking for an experienced Cloud Software Developer to join a highly skilled platform engineering team responsible for building and improving a cloud-based data platform used by more than 25 data teams. You will work within a professional Scrum environment focused on modern software engineering, continuous improvement and platform reliability. The role combines hands-on software development with cloud engineering, architecture, automation and technical coaching. You will develop and maintain cloud-native applications, write high-quality and well-tested code and contribute directly to architectural decisions and the technical roadmap of the platform. Key Responsibilities Develop and enhance an event-driven orchestration platform built using Azure Durable Functions and Python Build and maintain scalable, reliable cloud-native applications Apply Test Driven Development (TDD) and pair programming to maintain high code quality Contribute to software architecture using principles such as Clean, Onion or Hexagonal Architecture Design and improve automated CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform Support data teams in making effective use of platform tooling Coach data teams and colleagues on improving the reliability and quality of their data products Contribute to platform architecture and the wider technical roadmap Automate software delivery and infrastructure processes Perform operational platform management and support activities Participate in architectural discussions, innovation initiatives and continuous improvement Share knowledge and actively coach fellow developers Required Experience Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience Strong hands-on experience with Python Experience developing applications in Microsoft Azure Experience with Azure Durable Functions or similar serverless/event-driven technologies Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code Hands-on experience with Terraform Strong experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines Experience with Azure DevOps Practical experience with at least one modern software architecture approach: Clean Architecture Onion Architecture Hexagonal Architecture Strong understanding of Test Driven Development Strong focus on clean, maintainable and well-tested code Experience identifying and improving code quality issues such as code smells Demonstrable experience coaching developers or technical colleagues Experience working in Agile/Scrum software development environments What We're Looking For You are a collaborative developer who enjoys solving technical problems while helping others improve. The development team works closely together, with developers sharing responsibility for both engineering and operational activities. Team members have significant input into technical decisions and the future direction of the platform. The team works hybrid, with at least one day per week onsite in Utrecht, with additional office presence during innovation-focused periods.
