Java Back End Engineer

About the role... We are currently seeking an experienced Java Back End Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will work in a multinational environment on a multitude of tasks supporting our business in implementing and developing solutions for large EU and international institutions and private sector companies in Greece and abroad. What you will do... Develop Java/Spring Boot services and application components.Implement business functionality based on user stories and technical specifications.Develop and maintain REST API endpoints.Implement database entities, queries and persistence logic.Support Aurora PostgreSQL integration.Implement validations and business rules.Support integration with AWS services such as S3, SQS and EventBridge.Develop integration adapters and supporting services.Write unit and integration tests.Investigate and resolve software defects.Participate in sprint planning, refinement and technical discussions.Maintain technical documentation.Follow project coding, security and quality standards.Participate in peer code reviews.Support testing and integration activities. Technical Skills required... Bsc in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or relevant fields3+ years of experience as a Software EngineerStrong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot for developing enterprise-grade applications and microservices.Proven experience in designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs.Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and software design patterns.Experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL/Aurora PostgreSQL, including database design, SQL query optimization, and data persistence.Strong knowledge of JPA/Hibernate and persistence frameworks.Experience developing and supporting system integrations, adapters, and third-party service connections.Good understanding of software testing practices, including unit testing and integration testing.Experience troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving software defects in production and non-production environments.Knowledge of Git and collaborative development workflows.Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and participation in sprint ceremonies.Experience performing code reviews and adhering to coding standards and best practices.Knowledge of application security principles, secure coding practices, and quality assurance standards.Ability to create and maintain clear technical documentation.
