System Engineer – Managed KubernetesThe Container Services team is responsible for delivering Leaseweb Managed Kubernetes: a platform that empowers customers to deploy, manage, and update their own Kubernetes clusters while simplifying the complexity that comes with running them at scale. We are looking for a motivated System Engineer to help build and evolve this product.Product Engineering at LeasewebOur team of approximately 145 engineers works in small scrum teams, each with end-to-end responsibility for a specific product or part of our architecture. We work on a remote-first basis, coming together in person at our Amsterdam headquarters twice a year.Our organizational structure is flat, placing a high value on independence and entrepreneurship. The atmosphere is informal and relaxed, creating a highly motivating work environment where you will work alongside some of the most inspiring colleagues in the industry.What is the role about?As a System Engineer in the Container Services team, you are responsible for developing our container offering based on Kubernetes. Your main activities will be automating the deployment of Kubernetes clusters across Leaseweb's various compute offerings, as well as maintaining and monitoring those clusters.You will be part of a multidisciplinary team of experienced professionals: software engineers, system engineers, a scrum master, product owner, and product management.Key Responsibilities:Automate deployment, management, patching, and deletion of Kubernetes clusters across Leaseweb's compute offeringsArchitect, explore, evaluate, integrate and tune Kubernetes components, advising on best practices and identifying issues before they reach productionBuild and tune alerting & observability: Develop the monitoring, alerting, and logging that tells us our clusters are healthy — create & tune dashboards, alert, and metrics, using the SRE philosophy.Maintain the platform: Deploy new Kubernetes version, Update components, and make sure our components are secure.Investigate production issues, Troubleshoot, contribute to runbook and create permanent fixes for the issue we discover.Help the team design new features for Leaseweb's customersSupport customers and development teams, Participate in regular on-call duty (Engineer on Duty)Grow the engineers around you: Share your Kubernetes expertise with engineers in other teams, mentor colleagues within your own team, and contribute to cross-functional efforts on problems bigger than any single teamAlign with the wider architecture: Make sure the team's solutions line up with the department's architecture standards, and spot where the team can improveWhat we're looking for:You love working in a team setting.
