About The Role
The Backend Engineer designs and operates the services that power user-facing products, including APIs, data workflows, authentication, billing, and internal platform capabilities.
The role focuses on building reliable systems in a cloud-native environment using languages such as Go, Java, Python, or TypeScript.
You will work closely with frontend, mobile, product, and infrastructure engineers to turn product requirements into scalable services.
The work involves solving real production problems across performance, observability, data consistency, and security while delivering software used by a growing customer base.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain well-tested REST and event-driven APIs for customer-facing products and internal servicesBuild distributed backend systems using Go, Java, Python, or TypeScript, with PostgreSQL, Redis, and message queues such as Kafka or RabbitMQDeploy and operate production services on AWS or GCP using Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as TerraformImprove service reliability through structured logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and clear incident response procedures using tools such as Datadog, Grafana, or OpenTelemetryOptimize database schemas, queries, caching strategies, and service performance as traffic and data volume increaseCollaborate with product, frontend, mobile, and infrastructure teams to define technical solutions, estimate work, and deliver incremental improvementsReview code, strengthen automated test coverage, and contribute to engineering standards for security, maintainability, and operational readiness
What We Are Looking For
3–8 years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on backend or distributed systems developmentStrong proficiency in at least one backend language such as Go, Java, Python, or TypeScript, plus experience designing production APIsHands-on experience with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL or MySQL, including schema design, indexing, transactions, and query optimizationPractical knowledge of cloud infrastructure and deployment workflows using AWS or GCP, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and observability toolsUnderstanding of distributed systems concepts including asynchronous processing, queues, caching, service resilience, and eventual consistencyBachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experienceBonus: Experience with Kubernetes, Kafka, GraphQL, service meshes, infrastructure as code, security engineering, or high-scale consumer applications
