About The Role As a Senior Back End Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow. We're building the financial infrastructure that powers the next generation of B2B commerce. Our platform enables businesses to streamline payments, automate financial workflows, and deliver exceptional purchasing experiences. Responsibilities Take ownership of the entire software development lifecycle—from ideation and architecture through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing production supportParticipate in architecture discussions and contribute to long-term technical strategy and platform evolutionContribute to how we shift towards agentic software development lifecycleSupport Balance’s rapid business growthCollaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, Data teams, fellow engineers and other stakeholdersMentor and support fellow engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and collaborative problem-solving Requirements You’re curious about and actively experimenting with how AI changes Software Development Lifecycle7+ years of experience building production-grade backend applicationsExperience designing and building RESTful APIs and service-oriented architecturesSignificant practical experience building distributed systemsHands-on experience with large-scale production databases, including PostgreSQL and/or MongoDBStrong knowledge of data modeling, indexing, query optimization, and database performance tuningExperience working with AWS cloud servicesExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, and/or serverless architecturesExperience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelinesSolid understanding of software architecture, clean code principles, and design patternsExperience working in Agile development environmentsFrontend experience with React or similar frameworks is an advantageBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is an advantage What’s in it for you?
