Description
How would you feel about working on AI & computer vision projects + business automation in the same role?
You'll work with a profitable, growing business operating across the UK and Europe.
They've started building an AI platform to support their core operation, and you'd be the third engineer on it.
The AI platform is the main project, but there's plenty more alongside it.
Over the next year the team plans to use computer vision to monitor day-to-day operational performance, automate a lot of the routine sales and marketing work, and turn a handful of quickly prototyped internal apps into proper production software.
Longer term, they may also build some of their core data systems themselves.
What they're looking for:
You're comfortable building Python backends, so you can move between every project on the same stack and help out on the AI platform.You know your way around AWS.
The AI work uses AWS managed services, so you won't need a machine learning background to make a real contribution to it.You're happy working with people outside engineering.
The team acts like an internal consultancy for different parts of the business, which means you'll help decide what gets built as well as building it.You can take a loosely defined problem and see it through to production, and in a team this small your decisions will shape how things are done.
Some of the tech you'd be working with would include:
Python, AWS (Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, API Gateway, Step Functions and Fargate), DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, React, TypeScript, Docker, GitHub Actions and infrastructure as code.
You won't need all of it on day one.
If you've got Python and AWS, you can pick up the rest as you go.
Salary is £55,000 to £65,000.
The role is remote, with occasional trips to the office near Glasgow.
