About The Role SOSi is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our team on a contingent basis, supporting mission requirements for a structured approach to developing, integrating, and sustaining a scalable, federated data ecosystem. The primary focus of this role is to enhance interoperability, governance, and analytics capabilities for a Department of Defense (DoD) customer. The successful candidate will be instrumental in bridging operational gaps between the DoD, Intelligence Community, interagency partners, and international allies by enabling real-time information sharing, dynamic data integration, and mission-specific analytical functions. This position involves creating and maintaining environment-specific Kubernetes configurations, managing secrets with FedRAMP-compliant tools, integrating CI/CD pipelines for secure deployment, and coordinating with multiple engineering teams to ensure seamless operations across cloud and on-premises environments. The role demands a proactive approach to resource management, cost optimization, and adherence to security standards, contributing directly to the success of critical national security initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or a minimum of five (5) years of equivalent experience in DevOps engineering.Proficiency in designing, implementing, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines and automating infrastructure management.Experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes and Docker.Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools including Terraform and Ansible.Experience with continuous integration tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or AWS CodePipeline.Strong understanding of cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, along with security best practices.Familiarity with monitoring and logging solutions, including Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack.Hands-on experience deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters and automating cloud infrastructure.Knowledge of microservices architecture, service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd), and observability tools. Responsibilities Create and maintain environment-specific Kubernetes configuration packages, including Helm values files and YAML manifests, ensuring compliance with STIG hardening and RBAC policies.Implement and manage secrets injection strategies using FedRAMP-compliant tools such as AWS Secrets Manager and Azure Key Vault, supporting automated deployment pipelines.Integrate CI/CD pipelines to facilitate secure, automated deployment and rollback of ArcGIS components and related services, maintaining agility and compliance across environments.Coordinate with Kubernetes and Data Layer Engineers to ensure version control, pipeline integrity, and thorough integration testing for all containerized services.Collaborate with the infrastructure team to provide cloud resource usage estimates for Kubernetes deployments in IL2, IL4, and IL5 environments.Supply container and workload specifications to support provisioning, tagging, and planning for prepay or reservation strategies.Implement resource tagging aligned with cloud governance policies and reconcile actual usage against estimates to optimize costs.Support cost optimization efforts by adjusting workloads and scaling strategies based on performance and utilization data.Maintain documentation of deployment processes, configurations, and operational procedures to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing.
