Platform Engineer

UtilityCloud is looking for a Platform Engineer in Halden or Oslo. You’ll be a key resource to configure; maintain and update the infrastructure and services we use to run our software in Microsoft Azure. You’ll work closely with our developers to build the future of the automated and AI-driven software stack for energy retailers. The Role We are looking for a Platform Engineer to own and improve how UtilityCloud is built, deployed and operated. Our infrastructure layer is Terraform with Terragrunt, reusable modules, containerized services on AKS, Helm charts per domain. As a Platform Engineer you will own this infrastructure and help us set up a state-of-the-art delivery layer ensuring there is a streamlined process for our developers to deploy new code and services. Your job will be to get the deployment estate into code, put change control in front of production, and reduce the number of ways a service can reach a cluster and help up set up state of the art AI infrastructure in Microsoft Azure. Key Responsibilities Delivery and change control Modernize our Azure DevOps build and release pipelines.Give developers a single, documented path from merge to production Infrastructure and Kubernetes Own and extend our Terraform/Terragrunt estateRun and improve our AKS clusters Maintain and modernize our build agentsMove tenant-specific infrastructure toward configuration, so onboarding a customer is not an infrastructure change Data stores and AI infrastructure Deploy, monitor and scale the data technologies our services run on — MongoDB, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, Redis and time-series storesBuild the platform layer for our AI features: Azure OpenAI in Microsoft Foundry, vector search on Postgres with pgvector, and the networking and identity work that keeps all of it inside our EU/EEA data-residency commitmentsMake capacity, quota and cost of the AI stack visible and predictable Reliability, security and enablement Improve observability — metrics, logs, alerting — so we detect problems before customers doOwn backup, restore and disaster-recovery routines, and prove they work by testing themManage secrets, identities and access: Entra ID, Key Vault, service connections and federated credentialsDocument what you build, so the next person doesn't have to reverse-engineer it Career Path This is a senior, hands-on role with room to grow both in individual contributor and management tracks as UtilityCloud grows into a global leader as a provider of energy retail software. What We Are Looking For · Experience in managing and running Kubernetes clusters in production — you can debug a failing deployment, not just apply a manifest · Experience in Microsoft Azure — AKS, networking, identity, App Service or Functions · Infrastructure as code: Terraform (Terragrunt an advantage) and Helm · Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines at scale — Azure Pipelines, GitHub Actions or similar · Deploying, monitoring and scaling database technologies like Postgres, Mongo, Elasticsearch, and similar · A pragmatic person with the focus on helping others and building · High degree of autonomy and ability to thrive with minimal oversight and supervision · Team player · We want someone who is genuinely driven by building something that works, who goes looking for what needs fixing instead of waiting for it to land in a queue, and who wants UtilityCloud to succeed as much as we do · Fluent in English Advantages: · GitOps (Flux, Argo CD) and Kustomize · Running AI or ML infrastructure in Azure — Foundry / Azure OpenAI, vector databases, GPU or quota management · Multi-tenant SaaS, or another setting where one platform serves many customers · Cost management and FinOps on Azure · Experience from a regulated or business-critical domain — payments, banking, energy, health · Norwegian is a plus, but not a requirement What We Offer Real ownership of the platform that handles billing for more than 30 energy retailers as part of a small team of DevOps and Platform EngineersA mandate to fix things properly rather than patch them The chance to build our AI infrastructure from an early stage, on a platform where AI has real work to doA modern, AI-enabled development environment Deep insight into a complex and business-critical domain – energy retail, billing, and market integrations
