Software Engineer

About ROVA ROVA is a Malaysian tech company for businesses — from QR ordering systems and POS platforms for F&B businesses, to custom web applications for SMEs across retail, healthcare, logistics, and more. We are a fast-moving team that ships real products used by real businesses every day. About the Role You will be a member of engineering team, working directly with the founder to build, maintain, and improve our suite of web and application products. This is a hands-on role — you will own features from design to deployment and see your work go live quickly.What You Will Work On Build and maintain responsive, high-performance web applicationsDevelop new features for our restaurant ordering ecosystemDesign and integrate backend APIs with real-time data capabilitiesBuild custom web apps for business clients across various industriesWrite clean, maintainable code that can scale as the product growsContribute to UI/UX decisions and help shape how the product looks and feelsDebug, optimise, and improve existing systems and codebasesCollaborate closely with the founder on product direction and technical architectureRequirements Must Have 1–3 years of hands-on experience in web or software developmentProficient in at least one modern frontend framework (React, Vue, Angular, or similar)Solid understanding of backend development and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar)Experience building and consuming REST APIsComfortable working with real-time data and live-updating interfacesFamiliar with version control using Git and basic deployment workflowsAble to work independently, manage your own tasks, and deliver without heavy supervisionStrong attention to detail — especially in UI, layout, and user experienceGood to Have Experience with cross-platform or mobile-friendly web developmentFamiliarity with cloud platforms and managed backend services (AWS, GCP, Firebase, or similar)Experience with cloud-based file storage and image handlingUnderstanding of web performance optimisation and core SEO principlesExperience building SaaS products or multi-tenant applicationsExposure to print or document generation (PDF, receipts, invoices)Ability to produce basic UI mockups or wireframes before writing code
