Senior Java Developer (Client Management) - Leading Investment Bank

Our client is a leading global financial services firm, and they are looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to join their Client Management team in Hong Kong. You will play a key role in developing a new-generation platform supporting global users, with a strong focus on usability, cloud adoption, user experience, and enterprise-scale technology. You will own the development lifecycle across requirement analysis, solution design, development, testing, and delivery, while working closely with stakeholders and development teams across the globe. This is an opportunity for a hands-on technologist to contribute to large-scale platforms while also driving engineering best practices, Agile delivery, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: Application Development: Design and develop high-performance Java applications using Spring and modern open-source server-side technologies, with a focus on microservices and enterprise-scale systems.Architecture & Integration: Apply domain-driven design, object-oriented principles, design patterns, and event/message-driven architectures using technologies such as MQ and Kafka.Platform & Cloud: Contribute to internal cloud and partial external cloud deployments, supporting cloud adoption and modernisation of enterprise platforms.DevOps & Agile: Drive CI/CD and configuration management practices while contributing to Agile development methodologies and continuous engineering improvements.Data & Performance: Work with relational and document databases, writing complex queries and stored procedures while supporting high-volume, transaction-intensive processing.UI & User Experience: Contribute to user-facing applications using technologies such as ExtJS and JavaScript, with a strong focus on usability and user experience.Global Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders and technology teams across different regions to understand functional requirements, solve complex problems, and deliver scalable solutions. Required Qualifications & Skills: 7+ years of hands-on Java development experience with strong expertise in enterprise application development.Strong experience with Java, Spring, microservices, and open-source server-side technologies.Strong understanding of object-oriented design, enterprise architecture, and design patterns.Practical experience with event/message-driven architectures, including MQ, Kafka, or similar technologies.Experience with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices, including CI/CD and configuration management.Strong database experience across relational and/or document databases, including writing queries and stored procedures.Experience developing high-performance, transaction-intensive systems and processing high volumes of data.Exposure to internal cloud platforms and/or external cloud deployments.Experience with ExtJS, JavaScript, or other front-end technologies.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly understand complex functional processes.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with stakeholders and teams across multiple regions.Self-starter with strong ownership, leadership, and team-oriented mindset.Strong interest in continuously learning new technologies and understanding the business/functional domain.
