Lead Software Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Tech Lead to drive the technical delivery of complex e-commerce projects while mentoring development teams and collaborating closely with clients, project managers, architects, and business stakeholders. As a Tech Lead, you will be responsible for defining technical solutions, ensuring development best practices, and delivering scalable digital commerce experiences that meet both business and customer needs. As a Tech Lead, you will be responsible for defining technical solutions, ensuring development best practices, and delivering scalable digital commerce experiences that meet both business and customer needs. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership Lead the technical design and architecture of e-commerce solutions.Define development standards, coding guidelines, and best practices.Conduct code reviews and ensure high-quality deliverables.Act as the primary technical decision-maker on assigned projects.Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout project lifecycles.Project Delivery Collaborate with Project Managers and Product Owners to estimate and plan development activities.Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and according to quality standards.Support solution discovery workshops and technical scoping exercises.Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.Team Leadership & Mentoring Mentor and coach developers at all levels.Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.Support recruitment activities through technical interviews and candidate assessments.Help develop career progression plans for team members.Client Engagement Participate in client meetings as the technical subject matter expert.Present technical recommendations and architecture decisions to stakeholders.Build trusted relationships with clients by providing strategic technical guidance.Innovation & Continuous Improvement Stay up to date with emerging technologies and e-commerce trends.Drive adoption of modern development practices, CI/CD processes, and automation.Contribute to internal technical initiatives and capability development. Required Skills & Experience Technical Expertise 7+ years of software development experience.2+ years in a Technical Lead or Lead Developer role.Strong experience with one or more e-commerce platforms: Adobe Commerce (Magento 2), Shopify Plus, Composable Commerce solutionsStrong knowledge of: PHP, JavaScript / TypeScript, Node.js, React / Next.js, REST & GraphQL APIsExperience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and DevOps practices. Leadership Skills Proven ability to lead distributed development teams.Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities.Experience facilitating technical workshops and architecture discussions.Ability to balance technical excellence with commercial realities. Nice to Have Adobe Commerce Expert certification.BigCommerce certification.Experience with Headless Commerce architectures.Experience with PWA implementations.Knowledge of search technologies such as Algolia or Elasticsearch.Experience working within a digital agency or consulting environment
