Java Backend Engineer

About the Role: On behalf of an advanced technology client in Abu Dhabi, we are hiring an experienced Java Software Engineer to join a high-performance application software team. This role focuses on the design and development of backend software for next-generation cellular and secure communication systems, operating in a complex, distributed, and performance-critical environment. Responsibilities: Research, design, and develop cutting-edge cellular communication solutions using Kotlin, Java, Akka, Gradle, GitLab, and Docker.Design and implement backend systems based on Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Reactive architectures, and actor-based systems.Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including unit, integration, and end-to-end (E2E) testing.Build scalable, message-based, and high-performance backend services.Collaborate closely with software engineers, system architects, and product managers to deliver robust technical solutions.Contribute to technological and architectural decisions.Work within multi-disciplinary Agile teams, adopting Agile methodologies, tools, and mindset. Qualifications: BSc or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field10+ years of experience in Java and Kotlin software development Required Skills: Strong experience with functional programming, message-based communication, Reactive programming, DDD, and TDDAbility to read technical documentation and develop tools based on specificationsSelf-directed profile with strong planning and execution capabilitiesTeam player with experience working in Agile environmentsExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills Preferred Skills: Strong passion for software development and technologyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsFlexible attitude with the ability to perform under pressureUpper-intermediate level of spoken and written English Location & Package: Abu Dhabi, UAE (on-site)Competitive tax-free salary + benefits Security Clearance: This role supports sensitive programsEligibility to obtain security clearance is required
